Albany, July 28. While swimming
in the Willamette river Monday even
ing. Miss Helen Moore, deputy in the
office of the county superintendent
of schools, narrowly escaned rimith
by drowninig. She was rescued. Just
as she was going down for the last
time by V. E. Hasklns and Lee Gil
bert, who were swimming close by.
When taken ashore she was wholly
unconscious but promnt action nn the
part of those who witnessed the near
trageay to restore respiration, aug
mented soon after by the effrots of
a physician restored her. This morn
ing Miss Moore was able to be In her
office, apparently but little the worse
for her adventure.
