ery of the courts of Denver through
which wayward boys and girls pass
before Judge Ben B. Llndsey. Upon
the manner in which the boy or girl
passes the mental and physical tests
depends the ultimate disposal of his
or nor case." ' '
Judge Lindsey asserts that a way
ward girl has three ages. He explains

years old,. have the physical develop
ment of a girl 18 and the mental de-

"AH this, I have found, has a great
deal to do with the way of handling
cases of delinquent girls," the Judge)
declared. "For example, take the case
of a 16-year-old girl who has run away
and married a mature man. What to)
do with her depends largely on her
three ages, Chronologically the girl
may not be old enough to get married,
but she has been married and tha
question to- -determine whether it la
best to send her to a reformatory
merely because she eloped, or permit
her to remain with her husband,
"If she is biologically three or fou.r
years old than 16 (that is, possesses
the physical development -of a young
woman .of 19) and it her mental de
velopment is that of a normal girl ot
16 of older and if she loves the man
she married, why it seema that for her
sake she should not be punished for
marrying."
; The Judge says that whenever a girl
comes before his court, the first pro
cedure is to obtain her three ages,
through methods developed by meonv
cal men and psychologists. He declared!
he intends to make the Juvenile labor
atory available to the mothers of Den
ver so they -can obtain the three agea
of their children and use this informa
tion in providing against indiscretions
and possible criminality.
An -appropriation has been granted
for the carrying out of the proposed
laboratory , and ihe Judge Is seeking
to obtain the services of an expert
psychologist to take ; charge of the
work.

Milk Is Used To
Subdue Flames
Gunnison, Colo., Twenty gallons of
milk, worth ten cents a quart, were
used to extinguish a blaze on the roof
of the dwelling on the Cornwall ranch
near here. . c -
The blaze was discovered Just as the
-lands finished the milking. A bucket
wigade was being formed to pass wa
er from Ohio creek, which flows near
ly, but the. milkers, fearing that this
method wiuld be too slow threw th
