Steps are being taken to provide Oregon with a new feed law that will give It an equal standing with other states, ac cording to J. D. Mickle, state dairy and food commissioner, who has ap pointed a committee to draw up a workable measure that will be pre sented to the next session of the leg islature. Every state in the union, with four or five exceptions, Oregon being one, has what is known as the uniform feed law, which protects both the consumer and the manufacturer, Mr. Mickle said today. The law requires a guaranteed analysis to be printed on every package, naming each ar ticle contained in the feed, which should be sufficient to protect the purchaser. Inspection Is provided for the enforcement of the law, and In drawing up the Oregon measure it is proposed to make the Industry It self bear the expense and not put the cost on the general taxpayer.
