The physicians of all schools of medicine shall be accorded equal privileges in the treatment of patients in the hospital. Article. VI. The location of this corporation, and of the hospital named herein shall be profit, and that iro one without money ' Salem, in Marion county, Oregon, would be treated there. Now if one is too poor to pay will he be cared for thre ? I am not helping to build a hospital for the city or any one else to make money off it, unless they will care for the poor as well as the rich. If anyone will answer these questions, I, as well as others, will be very glad, we want the truth about it. I want to ee a Rood Samaritan hospital, all men are brothers and I am ONE OF THEM. In answering the above concerning the "New Hospital;" There are three questions specifical ly asked. ' 1st -Whose hospital is it? Ind lit whom name is the hospital incorporated ? 3rd If one is too poor to pay will they be cared for there? The hospital is strictly a public In stitution owned by the citizens of Sa Jem and Marlon county, rt is incorpor ated under the name of the Salem Hospital association; the association Wng the public. See articles of incor poration to follow. It is managed by a board of control composed of J 5 members who are ap pointed in the following manner! Uy a committee consisting of the mayor of Salem, the Judge of Marion county and the president of the com mercial club.- Fy the Salem members of the trt- county Medical society of Marlon, Polk ind Yamhill counties, Rnd by 14 di rectors above appointed to be selected from tho Oregon Children's Aid society. The said board shall be divided into three groups of 6 members each One group appointed for a period of oe year. One group appointed for a period of two years. One group appointed for a period of three years. There Is no possible chance for any person, or persons or private interests or corporation to ever get control of the hospital. L'nder the terms of the granting the Hospital nsNoclatlon the properly it how holds, it Is understood and agreed U'at sueh properly shall be used for hospital purposes only, and shall be a non-profit sharing Institution. There never shall be any lien or mortgages placed against tho institu tion, and If any of these provisions are violated the property reverts back to tho donors, "The Oregon Children's Aid Society." The Institution Is strictly a public no and as such hurst of necessity be non-sectai'lnn and conducted for the benefit of the community. Without doubt, it will receive a greater patronage from the poor and middle class of people, who are entit led to the same euro, effort and scien tific attention as those of wealth. This institution Is strongly non-profit sliming. It is run by the people and for the people, Whatever funds are received for ser vices goes to maintenance and equip ment, and cannot bo used for any oili er purpose. When first started. Article VI This corporation shall be under the direction and control of a board of 15 directors, who collectively shall be de signated as the "Board of Control or the Salem Hospital," said board shall be first named, designated and elected as follows: Seven members shall be named by the Salem members of the Medical so ciety of Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties; seven members shall be named by a committee consisting of the mayor of the city of Salem, ths county judge of Marion county, Oregon or by a majority of said committee; one director shall be elected from the membership of the Oregon Children's Aid society, by the fourteen directors named as herein provided. The said board shali be divided into three groups of five members each, the term of office of the members comprising each of said groups expiring in one, two and three years respectively. The successor to any member whose term exxpires by limitation, resignation or from any other cause or any other va cancy whatsoever, to be filled by elec tion by the members of the board re maining, from persons only who have been nominated by the body, commit tee or association which first named the member whose term has expired or whose vacant position is to be filled.
