Loss of a purse containing $74 in
bills and about 90 cents in change
some time Tuesday, was reported to
police by C. B. Wrilbourn. Wrilbourn
came to Salem Monday night with his
wife, and stayed at the Salem hotel.
He does not believe the purse was
stolen. It was a small black leather
folding bill book. Its loss leaves Wil
bourn with only $1.20. He came to
Salem seeking work. Anyone finding
the purse is asked to communicate
with the police.

braska stationed here, has not been
operating since Christmas day, It
was said today by Lieutenant Com
mander Whedell, executive officer.
Several sailors were found drunK
on board the vessel on Christmas.
Whether tha alcohol which had
been drained from the compass was
responsible for the condition1 of the
sailors is being investigated today by
officers of the Nebraska-
