An order naming Alice M. Dowell
guardian of the estate of Homer A.
Dowell, 3 1-2 years old, and appoint
ing Albert West, Homer West and Wil
Ham Buchanan appraisers of the
child's estate, was Issued today by
County Judge Bushey. Little Homer
Dowell, as heritage from his father's
estate, received a $1000 life insurance
policy.
London, Dec. 4. The race between
Captain Ross Smith, British aviator,
and Etlenne Poulet, French, in their
attempted flights to Australia, had
narrowed down to a 45 minutes mar
gin in favor of the T5ritish flier, ac
cording to latest reports received by
the air ministry here today.
Smith overtook the French before
Poulet reached Rangoon and arrived
in that city, 45 minutes ahead, a dis
patch to the air ministry said. The
aviators both reached Rangoon, No
vember 30, and planned to leave De
cember 1 for Bangkok, according to
a dispatch.
The distance from Rangoon, one of
the chief cities of the Indian province
of Mm ma, to Bangkok, capital of Siam
is about 340 miles.
The W. A. M. F. club will meet this
evening at the home of Miss Goldie
WiUel, 415 North Cottage street.

PreBS.) A rumor that Francisco Villa
had been betrayed by hig own men,
taken prisoner and had been offered to
the Carranzista commander at Parrai
if the standing reward of fifty thoii
snd pesos would first be paid, was still
unconfirmed officially here early to
day. No credence was given the rumor
in official quarters here or in Juarez,
although the rumor originated with u
Carranzita railroad man.
