HAGE SIX.
With the cry "Pulverize Pacific!"
froTii the Bearcat section and the op
posing cry "Wallop Willamette!" from
the Pacific bleachers, W. U.' and P. U.
will clash on Sweetland field Saturday
afternoon at 2.15 p. m. in one of the
hottest games of non-conference ball
this season.
. Both teams have played three gamen
without suffering a non-conference de
feat, and will come together In to
morrow's fray for the small school
laurels,
Hoth Defeat Cliemuwa.
In the early part of the season Pa
cific walloped Chemawa 27 to 0, while
the Bearcats tramped on the Indians
16 to 0 last Saturday. The P. U. lads
also put up a good game against the
O, A. C. huskies, scoring 7 points to
the agriculturalists' 45. Two weeks
ago, the Forest Grove eleven held Mult
noniah 21 to 0. Apparently they arc
not afraid of big meat and will be at
home In "John Wesley's" company.
Outside of the Chemawa game the
Willamette fighters have had one oth
er game, the alumni game at the open
ing of the season.
The Chemawa game is the only con
test which would permit of a compara
tive estimate of the teams this sea
son. The pcores of both contests are
Practically '.dentical, but It is under
stood that the Indians were consider
ably stronger when they gruelled in
Salem last week than when they per
formed for the Grove spectators. How
ever, neither Coach Mathews and his
team, nor the students of the local
varsity, are banking much on compar
ative scores in this fray. Dope has It

liocals Win Twice.
In 3 915, the first year Coach Ma
tMews was at Willamette, the Bearcats
invaded Forest Grove, and trimmed
Pacific 14 to 7 In a never-to-be-forgotten
game. It was anyone's game from
the start to the finish. Pacific was
forced to carry a third of its men off
the field before the fray was won, and
Willamette was using its fifth quarter
back when the.enti rtainment was call
ed off. "Towrhle" Irvine started the
. Name as pilot and "Tubhy" Hendricks,
fullback, finished it, Just stalling P.
V. off fo time. The only thing that
mved W. V. that day, whs the versntil-ii-
of Mathews' men lit stepping Into
thi pllo; box.
In j 9 1 Pacific came to Sweeltand
field, where she was dusted 27 to 6.
The game was not by any means as
easy asl:e score would Indicate. I'a

tf. well Against O. A. C. They were
able to dissipate a lot of agricultural
I'ntlrrlng in the 4.T (o-0" bout, and sev
eral limes their weighty baokfield
drove through the Corvallls boys' line
fur biff gains. While It is not known
. whafr-type of play Couch Day's men
will pull off against Mathews' cohorts,
Die llenrcats have their guns loaded
for line plunging. Little is known of
the sped of their backfleld. except that
Fullback Sam Stanley, who was with
Pacific three and four years ago, is a
nhlfty, as well as a fast man. Another
j.lece of Information about the
strength of P. U, concerns the punting
tf same Sam Stanley. It is punting was
one of the features of the O. A. C.
bout, Stanley outpunting his opponent
by a big margin at every point of the
pa me.
Willamette Average Tjow.
The average weight of Pacific has
not been published, but It Is bellevod
that they will outwelght the Bearcats
The Willamette- line will average
pretty low Saturday, unless Tuokii'H

Tulue and Brown. Toble and Brown
will be held out entirely unless a criti
cal situation develops, said Coach Ma

Hold ItiiH.V Tonight.
Willamette . will start its attack on
Pacific by a big rally tonight. The
first part of the rally, consisting of
speeches, yells, and songs, will be held
on the athletic field. In case of rain,
the ceremony will be held In the grand
stanJ; If the weather is fair it will be
held on the field. The freshmen have
ammassed a heap of material from
Lausanne hall and downtown stores
for the big bonfire, which will furnish
the light for the occasion.
After the campus rally, the-boys will
serpentine down town, following the
seven machines, which will carry the
players and the Bearcat squad. Ev
erybody will gather at State and Lib
erty streets at 8:30 for a climax rally.
At this point, Miss Odell Savage, who
was elected at the Greater Willamette
club meeting yesterday to represent
the "Spirit of WHlamette" in the rally
events, will present the prizes to the
winners (of the recent yell contest.
This-contest produced thirty yells for
the school.
The freshman class will form the
guard for the campus for tonight. Pa-
jciflo Is suspected 'of wanting to touch
off the bonfire. It is also understood
that she has some artists noted for
campus decoration. The W. U. frosh
will be on the alert all night tonight.
CHANCE TO WIN 50-50
(Capital Ji urnal Special Service.)
Eugene, Or., Nov. 7. -"We're not in
very good Bhape physically, but with
the exception of Leslie, who will be un
able to play at tackle, the same line-up
which downed Washington last Satur
day will start against Washington State
Saturday," Coach "Shy" Huntington
stated shortly before the Oregon team
left here for Portland at 7:25 this
morning. A large delegation of Ore
gon supporters were at the train ii,
give the squad a rousing sendoff.
In speaking of the coining clash,
Bill Hayward, Oregon's veteran train
er, said last night: "It's going to be
jone of the hardest fights ever seen in
'the west and the team with the most
stamina is going to win. I'm a little
afraid for my men as they're not in the
jbest of shape. From what I am able
j to gather, Washington State, whlcn
had a comparatively easy game with
I Idaho lust Saturday, is in better condi
tion that we are."
I "I believe we have a 50-50 chance
to win,'; Coach. Huntington explained
yesterday. "At any rate It's going to
! be one , of the hardest battles ever
lought in the west."
Seattle, Wash., Nov. 6. Nothing
came out of the baseball meeting held
by the Seattle Coast league club stock
holders here last night. The session
consisted of purely club business and
the question of selecting a manager
and electing officers for 1920 were put
ever two weeks when another session
will be called.
