The work of Steers,' Oregon's quarterback, and that of Manerude, the midget who succeeded the lemon and yellow pilot when he was forced from the game by injur ies, were the big features of the clash. Willamette university "Bearcats" by a score of 28 to 0, on Sweetland field Saturday. The game was never in doubt from the first quarter, when the "Bearcats" demon strated their ability to make yardage and Irwin can-led the ball over for a touchdown. The teams were almost evenly matched as to weight, though Coach Mathews' men had five pounds to- the man advantage. Both teams fought hard and an excellent brand of football was exhibited. Two touchdowns in the second quar ter guaranteed the game to the Meth odists early in the quarter. Zeller niude a spectacular run of 15 yards which resulted in six points. Although hit three times and knocked from his feet, he carried the ball over. Ir vln again carried the ball over for six points, making the touchdown In the last five seconds of the half. The goal was kicked after the whistle. In the third quarter Dlmlck carried the ball over and kicked the goal. He was suc cessful in kicking goals for alt touch downs. Portland, Or.', Nov. 3. A Hallow e'en tragedy is recorded in the death of 11 year old Mary Erwin Haynes, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Haynes, 86 North Nineteenth street, who died at noon Saturday as a result of burns received when her dress caught on fire from a Sick-o-lantern Friday night.
