Cheryl Lindsley April 14, 1939 - June 24, 2022 Cheryl Lorene Brock Linds- ley was born April 14, 1939, to William Sydney Brock and Rita Zollman Brock. She died Friday, June 24, 2022, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Cheryl grew up calling the Wal- lowa County region of Oregon home and graduated from Enter- prise HighSchool in Enterprise, Oregon. After gradua- tion, she met and married Gordon Lindsley. Her abiding faith and love for Jesus Christ drove every important decision she made in her life. She at- tended the Enterprise Nazarene Church from birth until marrying and moving away from the Wallowa region. She attended various churches throughout her life, keeping her faith whole. She was loved by all she met, her kind heart and compassion for others was her trademark feature inlife. She traveled cross country for new adventures with her husband, an Air Force flight navigator at the time, settling at Mountain Home Air Force Base, where her first son, Douglas was born in 1959. Next, they were off to Fort Worth, Texas, where they welcomed their second son, Robin, in 1960. After leaving the Air Force, they ventured to Ilwaco, Washington to work in con- struction. This is where their third son, Darren, was born in 1963. After moving back to the Wallowa moun- tains to pursue work in the forests, Cheryl and Gordon were blessed with their fourth son, Timothy, in 1967. In 1968 the family moved back to Ilwaco, Washing- ton, where they lived until 1978, when Gordon found work in the nuclear industry at Hanford, Washington. The family moved to Pasco, Washington, where the family settled until Gordon fell ill and passed away in 2013. This was a deep blow to Cheryl and the family. Cheryl continued to maintain the family home after Gordon’s passing. Many recall seeing her on her John Deere riding mower, mowing the acre and a half lawn weekly. (One of the highlights of her week.) Cheryl was talented beyond words, painting the most beautiful oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel paintings one could imagine. She also created beautiful chalk- board designs each month. Cheryl played the accordion, piano, and organ. She also played the tuba in high school. She was a master crochet artist, making and gifting hundreds of beautiful blankets, ornaments, and toys throughout the years. Her creative handmade Christmas decorations and Christmas party themes brought smiles to many. Cheryl’s love for her family and friends was abun- dant. She loved spending time with her children, grand- children, and many others she considered family. She always had an encouraging thought or funnystory to relay. She truly made the world a better place. WHAT’S HAPPENING WEDNESDAY, JULY 13 ROTARY CLUB OF WALLOWA COUNTY: Noon-1 p.m. Odd Fel- lows Hall next to the Enterprise Library.
