PENDLETON — The Pendleton Center
for the Arts has created a free and fun
activity for people of all ages to enjoy. From
individuals to families, the PCA Creation
Station is the perfect place to explore and
broaden creativity at zero cost.
Executive Director Roberta Lavadour
describes the creation station as “A hands-
on activity that can make socializing much
more comfortable ... the Creation Station
would be a great place for a fi rst date!”
PCA off ers a large and constantly grow-
ing variety of art supplies to meet every
artist’s needs. Some of these supplies in-
clude vinyl scraps, magazines, acrylic paint,
watercolor, markers, pencils, beads and em-
broidery supplies. Adults are given special
access to laser cut wood weaving looms
which they are able to take home, supplies
for macrame, knitting and mending.
“No limit to how many supplies can be
used. The best case scenario is that we run
out and have to buy more stuff ,” Lavadour
said.
Along with this, there is also no time limit
— everyone is welcome to stay and work
on as many projects as they’d like. And for
those who don’t know where to start, the
PCA interns and staff have QR codes post-
ed around the station to provide links to art
tutorials and ideas.
The Creation Station is open Tues-
day-Friday, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Satur-
days from 12:30-3:30 p.m. This schedule
encourages people to drop in whenever
they have time and provides an opportunity
to relieve stress by making art with friends
and family or enjoying a peaceful time
alone.
“Saturday is probably when it’s the bus-
iest, but it’s been surprising to see families
traveling mid-week already,” Lavadour said.
Although it may get busy, if the 20 seats
in the station are already taken, the staff
will bring more tables and supplies. And for
parents or guardians who would like to relax
while supervising, the station also has a
comfy lounge area.
The Creation Station is inside Pearson
Auditorium at PCA, 214 N. Main St. For more
