High Country Days return to Ukiah

UKIAH — The High Country
Days celebration is coming back
to Ukiah thanks to a group of
volunteers organizing nearly a
week of events.
“We’re trying to bring some
small-town fun back,” said
Lizette Berryessa, one of the
organizers.
Here’s a look at the schedule:
SATURDAY, JULY 2
This day starts the city-wide
yard sales, which run July 2-4.
Then, at noon, cooks are
invited to join the Dutch oven
cook-off at Ukiah City Park.
Organizers are asking a $5 dona-
tion fee to enter, but this is not
required. Food will be judged at
6 p.m., and there is a $25 cash
prize for fi rst place.
A street dance starts at
7 p.m. between the Presbyterian
Church and the park. There is no
cost, although donations will be
accepted.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29
The activities begin mid-week
with a movie in the park at 9 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to bring a
lawn chair or blanket and snacks.
THURSDAY, JUNE 30
A pickup Wiffl e ball game
starts at 5 p.m. in the park.
Everyone ages 12 and older is
welcome to play — or just bring a
lawn chair and watch the game.
All skill levels are welcome.
FRIDAY, JULY 1
This day gathers everyone
together at 6:30 p.m. for a com-

suggestions: for last names that
start with letters A through J,
bring a main dish; for last names
K through R, bring side dishes or
snacks; for last names from S to
Z, bring a dessert.
Paper products, utensils, lem-
onade and tea will be provided.

MONDAY, JULY 4
A Fourth of July parade starts
at 10 a.m. in front of the post of-
fi ce. Entries — horses, bicycles,
ATVs, cars, trucks, etc. — are
encouraged to decorate with red,
white and blue.
The holiday celebration culmi-
nates with slip-and-slide kickball
games for kids and adults from
CAMAS PRAIRIE
COWBOY
CONVENTION
The Ukiah Rodeo Board is
organizing the inaugural
Camas Prairie Cowboy
Convention rodeo in Ukiah
on June 24 and 25.
Mutton busting starts the
action at 4 p.m. both days,
followed by a rodeo at
5 p.m. The Saturday event
also features a kids’ rodeo
with stick horses at noon.

10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Ukiah City
Park. Hot dogs and chips will be
available. Donations will support
the Ukiah Volunteer Fire Depart-
ment, which is organizing this
event.
