Carol Ann Prazeau Dieringer
June 5, 1938 - June 8, 2022
Carol Ann Prazeau Dieringer, of Joseph, Oregon,
passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8,
2022, at Wallowa Memorial Hospital in Enterprise
from complications related to Alzheimer’s. She was
surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren.
Carol was born June 5, 1938, in Portland, Oregon,
the daughter of Hugh and Carol Ann (Cannard) Prazeau.
She and her future husband, Dave, met at the tender age
of 14 and have been lifelong companions and married
for 65 years. Their marriage was one of the most epic
love stories and they were loving parents to 11 children.
Carol was a devout Catholic and became one of
the first acolytes in the Catholic Church in Portland,
Oregon. Her faith was integral to her very being, and her
love for her God shone through like a light. Carol and
Dave opened their home to countless foster children on
their way to adoption through Catholic Charities. Their
love knew no bounds when taking care of these special
children.
Carol was preceded in death by her son, John; her
grandson, Sean; and her brothers, Mike and Bob. She
is survived by her husband, Dave; her children, Tim,
Lisa, Julie, Pam, Andrew, Bobby, Chris, Katie, Leah
and Amanda; and her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis
and Lael.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday,
June 16, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Katherine Catholic Church
in Enterprise, with interment at the Joseph Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Bollman Funeral Home.

nine years at Station 49, in the city of Troutdale, retiring
with 28 years of service, at the rank of lieutenant.
Through the years Ted was an avid skier and
outdoorsman; he achieved scaling Mount Hood. He was

Joyce H. Jennings-Tautfest
July 1, 1937 - June 10, 2022
Joyce Helen Jennings-Tautfest,
of Joseph, Oregon, passed away
in Joseph on June 10, 2022,
surrounded by family.
Joyce was born July 1, 1937,
in Enterprise to Anah and Helen
Jennings. She grew up with Anah
“Jerry” Alfred Jennings, Betty
May Prout, Ada Lou Jennings
(deceased), Rita Louise Bittle,
Getta “Ann” Rayburn and, last, Sharon Lee Courtney.
She was raised in Lower Imnaha and moved to Joseph
at a young age. After graduation from Joseph High
School, she met Robert “Bob” Ray Lowry, and they
married April 27, 1955. During this union she had three
children: Debbie Moffit, David Lowry and Deena Perin,
all born in La Grande, Oregon. Joyce was a devoted
mother to her children and a strong Christian. Joyce
worked at Terry’s Trailers from 1959 to 1970 before
Bob took the position of chief of police in Madras,
Oregon. Joyce started working at Madras Elementary
School in the cafeteria.
Joyce’s main passion was being a Christian. She
joined the Madras Baptist Church, teaching Sunday
school along with being the secretary of the church.
Later Bob and Joyce divorced and she transferred back
to Joseph, Oregon, where she joined the Enterprise
Christian Church and met with a nice group of ladies
in a prayer group and taught Sunday school. Joyce
loved to teach God’s word. Her other love was being
an advocate for the military. She prayed for all of the
Wallowa County troops, along with sending them care
packages. She had a huge bulletin board at the church
where she would keep track of all the addresses for the
community, along with posting who had been injured
or who we had lost. Joyce also arranged surprise
videoconferences with the families of the troops during
football games.
Raising three children was tough but Joyce always
found time for her children. Joyce worked at the Winding
Waters Clinic as a receptionist for a while before she
found passion in bookkeeping. She then worked at RY
Timber as office manager until her retirement. During
this time of working, she met Edward Daniel Tautfest
and they married on June 14, 1986. She was then joined
by two more children, Daniel “Dan” Glen Tautfest and
Deborah “Debbie” June Scott.
Joyce became an advocate for people with disabilities
after her husband became disabled during a work
accident. Joyce’s other love was her grandchildren,
whom she loved and dropped everything to help them
when needed. Her door was always open for her family.
Joyce was a very caring, loving person with a huge
heart and a smile on her face. For a small woman she
was a spitfire and took anything on with passion.
Joyce will be missed by many and is preceded in death
by her parents, Anah and Helen Jennings; her brother,
Jerry Jennings; her sisters, Betty Lou Prout, Ata Lou
Jennings and Ann Rayburn; and her husband, Edward
Tautfest. She is survived by her children, David Lowry
(Therese), Debi Moffit (Charlie) and Deena Perin (JD);
and her stepchildren, Dan Tautfest (Lisa) and Debbie
Scott (Joel). She is also survived by the joy of her later
years, her grandchildren, April Oswald (Noel), Robert
“Bobby” Beach (Tracie), Kristen Gomes (Casey),
Christopher Lowry (Lupe), Erica Perin (Austin Casper),
Glen Tautfest (Rachel), Kyle Tautfest, Brandon Scott
(Kristin Judd) and Ashley Scott (Criss Hahn), and her
great-grandchildren, Hunter, Chevelle, Nesha, Robert
Jo “RJ,” Lahliy Mea, Alizeah, Matthew, Daniel, Jadeyn
and Jace; along with several nephews and nieces.
A Christian service was held at the Enterprise
Christian Church followed by a graveside service at the
Joseph Cemetery on Monday, June 20.
Memorial donations may be made to the Enterprise
Chistian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.

David Emory Alford
August 10, 1952 - June 9, 2022
David Emory Alford, 69, a
longtime resident of Albany and
formerly of Wallowa County,
passed away unexpectedly on June
9, 2022.
David was born in Enterprise,
Oregon, on Aug.10, 1952, and
raised in Wallowa County and the
Willamette Valley. He was the third
child and only son of four children
born to Glen and Helen (Houck) Alford. David served
in the U.S. Navy for six years and received, among other
commendations, Top Sailor at Whidbey Island Naval
Station.
David graduated from high school in Dallas and
completed a bachelor of science degree in business
from Oregon State University, also having studied at
the Oregon Institute of Technology and Eastern Oregon
State College, where he met the love of his life, Joanne
Streny, of La Habra Heights, California. Married June
26, 1982, David and Joanne moved from La Grande
to Albany a year later. David worked retail, customer
service and tax collection at the Oregon Department of
Revenue, retiring in 2015.
In addition to his boundless love for Joanne and of
his family, David spoke softly and gave generously,
reflecting kindness, caring and a deep Christian faith,
exemplified by his participation in structured Bible
study with other men and his attendance at Hope
Church Sunday services.
David loved to read, build, garden, target shoot and
fish. He and Joanne traveled across the United States,
always seeking off-the-wall roadside attractions and
visiting family and friends. He loved playing with
children. David showered his family and friends with
gifts of canned pickles and other garden produce.
His woodworking projects brought joy to many. His
handmade bird houses, feeders, display stands, planter
boxes, benches, wood shelves, hose reels, jar crates
and other furniture grace many homes where David’s
memory will forever live with us.
David is survived by his sisters, Janet (LeRoy)
Schultz, Glenda (Mark) Farmer and Susan (Owen)
Smith; six nephews and five nieces; and their children
and grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his
parents.
A celebration of his life was held at 11 a.m. Monday,
June 20, at Hope Church, 2817 Santiam Highway,
Albany, OR 97322. Donations in David’s honor may
be made to the Alford Family Scholarship Fund at the
Albany Public Schools Foundation, P.O. Box 1772,
Albany, OR 97321.
Remembrances may be sent to Fisher Funeral Home
or shared at www.fisherfuneralhome.com.
