Anyone with a presentation of any type, be that a small group band, a comedy routine, a mono- logue, demonstration or spoken word poetry, is welcome to take the stage, present and share, Jennings said. On Thursday, March 24, HQ will host its fi rst visiting act of the season, Horse Feathers, from Portland, at 7 p.m. “They are a fi ve-piece band with a lot of strings and a blue- grassy rock genre,” Jennings said. Opening for the band is re- turning guest Nick Delfs. Horse Feathers will release a deluxe re-issue LP of their break- through 2008 album, “House With No Home,” on April 8, courtesy of Kill Rock Stars. The formerly out-of-print LP is being remastered from the original audio, and will include a bonus of unreleased material. They appear March 24. of banjo, guitar, cello, saw and gentle vocal harmonies.” Now on tour and making a stop at HQ, Horse Feathers is performing favorites from the record in support of the release. Fans will recognize their songs, such as “Albina,” “A Burden,” “Helen,” “Working Poor,” “This Is What” and others. Show tickets are $15 at the door, or $12 when pre-ordered online at lagrandehq.com/tickets/. Starting in April, Jennings said HQ will be returning to weekly shows as well as the open stages on Thursday evenings. “What I want to convey is that HQ is a really great space for the freedom of ideas — if people want to promote a show or bring in an exhibition,” he said. “It’s got the capacity to show fi lms or to put on a large band or large- screen TV show. All that technol- ogy is built into the stage.” Jennings said he knows that people are still coming out of the COVID bubble, but he’s hop- ing to get EOU students back to HQ to do art again. He’s also anticipating the Eastern Oregon Film Festival in October, which is moving toward its 13th year. HQ does off er limited conces- sions, and it serves beer, wine and sodas. Most events cater to family and children of all ages, unless otherwise posted “21 Plus.” For those who want to use the space for a special event, outside catering is allowed.
