The two exhibits each run until March 26. FIBER ARTS AND JEWELRY The sixth annual Fiber Arts and Jewel- ry Exhibit, with the theme “Fiber Focused on Color,” features work from Northeast- ern Oregon fi ber and jewelry artists. A quilt created and donated by local artist Joy Cleaver will be on display and raffl ed off as a fundraiser for the art cen- ter. Visitors may purchase raffl e tickets in the Gift Gallery or on the ACE website. The winning raffl e ticket will be drawn at the end of the exhibit. The quilt is valued at $275. Art Center East has also collaborated with the Union County Warming Station for this exhibit — visitors who bring one item from the warming station’s wish list (see ucwarmingstation.org) will receive one free raffl e ticket in exchange (one exchange per visitor). A closing reception is set for Friday, March 11, 6-8 p.m. NEW WORKS BY SARAH BIRD Oil painter Sarah Bird’s exhibit, “New Works by Sarah Bird,” is on display in ACE’s main gallery. This show, accord- ing to an ACE press release, “showcases Bird’s oil paintings of traditional altar-like arrangements of natural objects set against cloth backgrounds and also her nontraditional landscape compositions of plants, leaves and branches.” CO-OP GALLERY For several months, ACE has invited the community to vote on a new name for the Co-Op Gallery. In an eff ort to honor a local artist, ACE took nominations of names and the list was narrowed to four: Dennis “Craig” Canoy, Sue Orlaske, Kat Galloway and Thomas “Tom” Madden. All were nominated posthumously. Voting ended March 10, and the honor- ee will be announced Friday, March 11, dur- ing the closing reception for the art shows.
