Notice of Receipt of Prospective Petition and Ballot Title
Notice is hereby given that a Prospective Initiative Petition (IP 32-007) and Ballot Title have been filed
with the Wallowa County Clerk of Wallowa County, Oregon on December 29th, 2021, for inclusion on
the next scheduled election, which shall be determined after signature verification shows the petition
contains the required number of signatures. An elector may file a petition for review of this ballot title in
Wallowa County Circuit Court pursuant to ORS 250.195.
The following shall be on the ballot title:
Caption: Commissioners Required to Discuss Interests in Relocation of Idaho Border
Question: Shall the Commissioners meet twice annually to discuss promoting Wallowa County inter-
ests regarding relocating Idaho borders to include Wallowa County?
Summary: If passed, the petition requires the Wallowa County Board of Commissioners to meet
on the fourth Wednesday of every February and August to discuss how to promote the interests of
Wallowa County that would be relevant to a relocation of state borders, and to promote the county for
becoming a county of Idaho. Civil penalties are provided for anyone who willfully prohibits, cancels,
or hinders any of the proscribed meetings of the Board of Commissioners. A civil offense against this
ordinance is punishable as a Class D Violation, with a maximum fine of $125, and is enforceable by
any peace officer. Recovered fines, less court costs, are payable to the County Treasurer for deposit
in the county general fund.
As indicated in ORS 250.195, an elector may file a petition for review of this ballot title in Wallowa
County Circuit Court.
