Wins pile up on the track for Enterprise, Joseph

Jericho Peters, Zac Knapp and
Gideon Gray each won two races
Tuesday, May 4, to lead the
Enterprise effort at the Mac-Hi
Three-Way in Milton-Freewa-
ter against McLoughlin and
Weston-McEwen.
Peters took top honors in the
100 meters (11.24 seconds) and
200 (23.68), and was second in
the long jump (18 feet, 4 inches)
as the senior posted three per-
sonal bests on the day. Knapp
won the 1,500 (4:30.92) and the
3,000 (9:10.32), posting a PR in
the 3K. And Gray took first in the
high jump (5-feet-0) and the jav-
elin (127-feet-2), earning a PR in
the event. Gray’s high jump win
led a 1-2-3 finish, with Byron
Gallagher (5-feet-0) second and
Brenden Moore (4-feet-10) third.
The Outlaws collected a sev-
enth victory via Roan Flynn’s PR
in the 300 hurdles (48.46). Moore
placed second in the 300 hurdles
(49.96) and Luke Clinchy was
fourth at 1:01.24.

In fourth was Ransom Peters in
the 100 (11.72) and 200 (25.15),
and Gallagher in the long jump
(17-feet-½). Flynn was sixth in
the long jump (15-feet-11) and
Noah Meyer was sixth in the jav-
elin (84-feet-9). In seventh was
Tanner Kesecker in the shot put
(25-feet-6½) and javelin (71-feet-
2), and Gray in the discus (69-
feet-11), and in eighth was Walker
in the 100 (13.31) and Kesecker

For the girls, Savannah Vaughn
took first in the 100 (13.62) and
the 200 (1:06.43), setting a PR
in both. She also took second in
the high jump at 4-feet-4, and
was part of the first-place 4x100
relay team, as Vaughn, Althea
Komiskey, Maddie Nordtvedt and
Ailena McEntire won in 56.62
seconds.
Asiya Salim was first in the
shot put (26-feet-7), second in
the javelin (93-feet-1), fourth in
the discus (61-feet-5) and sixth in
the 100 (14.77). Nordtvedt added
three second-place finishes — in
the 100 (13.94), 200 (30.40) and
400 (1:11.93). Maddie Wigen
took third in the high jump at
4-feet-2. McEntire was fourth in
the 200 in 31.09. Komiskey was
fifth in the 100 (14.72) and in the
high jump (4-feet-2). And Arian
Latta cleared 3-feet-10 in the high
jump to take sixth.
On Friday, May 7, Lottie
McDonald won two races to lead
the effort for the Joseph girls track
team at the Grant Union Invita-
tional, while three different boys
won events to lead their effort at
the meet.
McDonald won the 300 hur-
dles in a time of 52.93, and the
400 in 1:05.66. She also took
fourth in the long jump with a
mark of 13-feet-4.
Ariana Samples won the shot
put with a personal best distance
of 31-feet-1, and was fifth in the
discus (53-feet-5) and the jave-
lin (55-feet-10). Iona McDonald
took fourth in the 100 (15.11) and
the 300 hurdles (55.71).
For the boys, Bayden Men-
ton led a 1-2-3 finish in the 1,500
in 4:27.79, with Henry Cough-
lan following at 4:33.29 and Ian
Goodrich third at 4:34.40. Kale
Ferguson won the discus at 116-

NTERPRISE — Make it eight
wins in a row for the Wallowa
Valley baseball team.
The Eagles chalked up two more
dominant doubleheader sweeps, tak-
ing down Weston-McEwen on Tues-
day, May 4, at home, 10-0 and 12-2,
and toppling 4A McLoughlin Satur-
day, 15-0 and 8-2.
On Tuesday, the Eagles took
advantage of wildness on the part of
the TigerScots, as they had just 12
hits across the two games, but were
also walked a total of 11 times and
saw several other batters get hit by
a pitch.
In the opener, Cody Fent was in
control on the mound, tossing five
shutout innings, striking out five bat-
ters, and allowing three hits and two
walks. Fent also went 2-for-3 and
scored a run, and David Salim went
2-for-3 with two doubles and two
runs scored.
Wallowa Valley broke the game
open with five runs in the third and
three in the fourth on the way to a
five-inning victory.
In the second game, Zeb Rams-
den had a big role in the offense,
going 2-for-2 and scoring four times.
Meanwhile, Trace Evans went
1-for-2 and scored three runs.
Trace Collier tossed four
innings, allowing two runs on three
hits, walking two batters and strik-
ing out three. The Eagles broke
open a 4-2 game with six runs in
the fifth, the ended the game with
ENTERPRISE — The Outlaws’
offense could not be stopped Tues-
day, May 4, in a doubleheader road
sweep of Heppner/Ione that saw
Wallowa Valley roll to wins of 16-7
and 16-0. The Outlaws had a com-
bined 34 hits over the two games.
In the opener, Liz Rowley had
a pair of doubles among three hits
and finished with four RBIs and a
pair of runs scored. Cooper Nave
went 4-for-5 with a double and a
run, Aimee Meyers scored four
times and had three hits, Claire Far-
well had three runs and two hits,
and Brianna Rouse and Sydney

two runs in the sixth.
In Saturday’s opener, the Eagles
pounded out 15 hits, with Evans
going 4-for-4 with two runs. Salim
went 2-for-3 and scored three times,
and Flynn Nave had two hits and
two runs. Nave also dominated on
the mound, allowing just one hit and
one walk while striking out eight
batters in five innings.
The Eagles broke the game open
early with seven runs in the first,
and added on from there even while
rotating in other players. They led
9-0 after two innings and 14-0 after
three.
In the nightcap, Nave and Collier
both went 2-for-3, with Nave scoring
twice. Chase Homan and Ramsden
each added a hit and scored twice.
Evans pitched 5⅓ innings, allow-
ing one run on three hits with three
walks and six strikeouts.
The Eagles (10-1 overall) visit
Baker/Powder Valley Wednesday,
then face Burns in Baker City on
Saturday.
Outlaw softball offense rolls in pair of sweeps

Goodrich came in third in the 800
(2:08.20), and Menton placed
fourth (2:10.74). Nelson, along
with his win in the high jump,
was second in the long jump (18-
feet-9½). Keelan McBurney was
fourth in the shot put (30-feet-5)
and the discus (73-feet-1), Kane
Johnson was fifth in the 400
(1:03.40) and sixth in the discus
(66-feet-9), Jessup Orr was sev-
enth in the discus (65-feet-9) and
Adrian Cabrera was eighth in the
shot put (24-feet-11½).
The boys took second in the
meet, and the girls took fourth.
The Outlaws are off until May
14 when they compete at the 2A
Special District 6 championship
meet in Union, and both teams
then compete May 15 at the Jo-Hi
Invitational.
Hopkins each had two hits.
Meyers pitched 3⅓ scoreless
innings for the win, allowing just
three hits and striking out seven
batters.
In the second game, Hopkins
homered and drove in three runs,
and Kirkland and Meyers also had
three RBIs each as the Outlaws
blanked the Mustangs.
Kirkland also had three hits and
scored twice in the victory, while
Grace Collins, Macy Marr and
Rouse had two hits each. Farwell
scored three times, and along with
Kirkland, Collins, Nave, Rowley
and Rouse had two runs apiece, and
Rouse tallied two RBIs.
Meyers tossed four shutout
innings, allowing just two hits and
striking out three batters.
On Friday, the Outlaws swept
Pilot Rock/Nixyaawii the road,
10-1 and 9-0.
Rowley tossed a complete game
in the opener, allowing one run on
three hits while walking three and
striking out seven. She also had two
hits and drove in a pair of runs.
Kirkland and Farwell each
added two RBIs in the opener. Alex
Rowley scored three runs and had
three hits, Rouse scored twice and
had two hits and Marr had three
hits. Collins also scored twice, and
Nave collected two hits. The Out-
laws had 16 total in the contest.
In the second game, Meyers
tossed a gem, allowing just four
hits and striking out five batters in
seven innings for the shutout. She
also had two hits, including a dou-
ble, and drove in three runs.
Liz Rowley tallied three hits —
two of them doubles — and scored
four times in the win. Kirkland and
Collins scored twice each. Collins
also was walked four times. And
Nave and Kirkland had two hits
apiece.
Wallowa Valley (8-5 overall)
visited Union/Cove on Tuesday,
and faces Burns at Baker City on
Saturday.

Amaro took second and
Dylan Jennings took fourth
as the Enterprise boys golf
team edged Heppner by two
strokes to win the Enterprise
Tournament on Friday, May
7, at Alpine Meadows Golf
Course.
Amaro shot a 94 to fin-
ish one stroke behind Grant
Union’s Devon Stokes. Jen-
nings, who carded two bird-
ies on the day, had a score of
100.
The two scores were
enough to help the Outlaws
to a team score of 432, just
ahead of Heppner’s score of
434.
The rest of the scor-
ers for Enterprise included
Alex Albanez, who finished
with a total of 115, Landon
Greenshields’ score of 123
and Parker Siebe, who fin-
ished with a total of 146.
Wallowa/Joseph
took
fourth as a team with a score
of 506, and was led by Owen
Gorham, who had a total of
108. Jett Peterson had two
birdies on his way to a score
of 113, while Mason Moore
shot a 129 and Jesse Larison
had a total of 156.
The Enterprise girls had
a team score of 559, and
were well-balanced among
their four players. Jordyn
Stonebrink led the way with
a score of 135. Both Lan-
nie Stonebrink and Greta
Carlsen were right behind
her at 138, and Codi Cun-
ningham followed with a
total of 148.
Both
Wallowa/Joseph
and Enterprise travel to
play at Grant Union on Fri-
day, May 14, in what will be
their final tournament of the
season.
