painting in pastels will take
place from 4-8:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 19, via
Zoom from the Josephy Cen-

Cost of the class is $60.
Participants will build on

ing a landscape with pastels
at this class taught by Bonnie
Zahn Griffi th. Following a
brief introduction in composi-
tion and design elements, par-
ticipants will paint together a

along” will give participants
the systematic approach to
doing a studio painting based
on a photo. In this case Grif-
fi th will complete the paint-
ing again, along with partic-
ipants, of this road and old
abandoned shed along the
river. Participants will learn
techniques for pastel applica-

Whittle a honey
drizzler at Josephy

JOSEPH — Self-pro-

Anderson will share his tal-
ent for whittling in a relaxed
and informative class from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday,
May 15, at the Josephy Cen-

Participants will cre-

drizzlers and — if the
weather is nice — they will
sit outside for the class.
Participants are urged
to bring a chair, appro-
priate protection from the
sun, lunch, a sharp whit-
tling knife, a stick (prefer-
ably hardwood) with which
to make the drizzler and “be
prepared to tell tall tales, lies
and other prevarications.”
No experience is neces-

required, as will the $30
class fee.

ished just 7.23 seconds shy
of breaking into the top 30.
She also was the fourth-fast-
est freshman in the fi eld.
She said the course at
nationals wasn’t bad, but it
was muddy terrain that also
featured thicker grass, and as
a result, the race was more
challenging.
“It was a hard race. And
everyone would agree with
that. It’s hard to put into
words,” she said.
She has carried the solid
freshman campaign to the
track, too. On April 30,
she ran a leg on a winning
4x800-relay team that won
the Buc Scoring Invite in
a time of 9:19.70 — a time
that qualifi ed the quartet for
the national meet. She also
took third in the women’s
5K at the meet in a time of
18:16.55.
And even though she is

ple hundred miles away from
home, Tingelstad still feels

the hometown support. She
said her parents, sister, for-
mer coaches and teammates
are all among those who have
been in contact with her.
“The support from home,
even being away has been
impressive,” she said.
With
Tingelstad’s
all-American eff ort, the Coy-
otes did something they had
only done two other times
in history — notch three
all-Americans in one season.
The 2012 and 2013 teams
both accomplished the feat,
according to the C of I web-
site. Those teams, like this
season, went on to place sec-
ond at nationals.
And C of I only loses one
senior in the top fi ve from
this squad, and two from the
top seven, which means the
Yotes — led by the former
Joseph standout Tingelstad
— could be a contender for
quite a while.
“We’ve got a few pretty
good freshmen coming in
that might help us out,” she
said. “We’re always going
for that number one spot.”
