Wallowa.
“Four-wheel-drive rigs are what we sur-
vive on,” owner Leonard Post said. “That’s
our mainstay.”
SPS does service all types of vehicles.
Post said older cars often should have their
coolant replaced, rather than simply checked
as one would do with a newer-model vehicle.
All vehicles, Post said, should have bat-
teries and tire pressure checked.
Asked what kind of winter he expected
this year, Post said, “You know what we’re
going to do? We’ll wait till it’s over then
we’ll know what we had.”
Norton’s Automotive, in Lostine, also
offers full-service auto repair and does much
work on larger, four-wheel-drive vehicles.

recommended drivers of diesel-fueled vehi-
cles be sure to have engine heaters and plug
them in on cold nights.
“Fuel additives are always good to run in
winter, especially with diesel,” he said.
Henson also recommended checking
coolant, wiper blades, washer fluids and to
check the air pressure and condition of tires.

prises in Wallowa, said his top recommen-
dation for winterization is checking a vehi-
cle’s antifreeze to make sure it’s ready for
the cold.
“They don’t like cold weather,” Makin
said.
Otherwise, most preparations for winter
are common maintenance.
“It’s nothing like you wouldn’t do in the
summer,” he said.
