Bonnie Joyce Lindsey
Irv Nuss

Bonnie Joyce Lindsey,
age 78, died on June 22,
2019, in Enterprise, Ore-
gon. She is survived by
four brothers: Dale Lind-
sey of Wallowa,
Oregon;
Don-
ald Lindsey of
Camarillo, Cal-
ifornia;
Clif-
ford Lindsey of
Monmouth, Ore-
gon; and Gerald
Lindsey of Cov-
ington,
Wash-
ington. She was
preceded in death by her
parents Frank and Emma
(Carper) Lindsey and
brother Norman Lindsey.
Bonnie was born Septem-
ber 30, 1940, in Promise,
Oregon to parents Frank
and Emma (Carper) Lind-
sey. She graduated from
Wallowa High School in
1959. She moved to Port-
land where she became an
avid Trailblazer fan and
worked most of her adult
life at Emanuel Hospital.
She returned to Wallowa
County when she retired
in 2004. Most of us will
remember Bonnie walk-
ing up and down
the streets of
Wallowa going
to Little Bear
for ice cream,
and also walk-
ing just for the
sake of walking.
She was a kind
woman with a
special
heart
for children and tried to
remember all of the birth-
days with a card for each
child she knew from her
church and community.
She also had a special bond
with her nieces and neph-
ews and they all knew they
were loved by their Aunt
Bonnie. Services will be
held on Sunday, July 7
at 2:00 p.m. at the Chris-
tian Church in Wallowa,
Oregon.
Ray Milligan
Enterprise
May 1, 1919–June 9, 2019
Raymond “Ray” Mil-
ligan, 100, of Enterprise,
passed away on Sunday,
June 9, 2019. A Graveside
Service will be held at the
Enterprise Cem-
etery on Friday,
June 28 at 1:00
p.m.
Ray was born
on May 1, 1919
in Parma, Idaho,
to Willis Milli-
gan and Mertie
(Brandt) Milli-
gan. Ray gradu-
ated from Cald-
well, Idaho High
School in 1937.
After
gradua-
tion he moved
back to Wal-
lowa and went to
work for McDan-
iel
Motors.
Ray and Ber-
nice
Bartmess
were married on May 28,
1940, the day after Ber-
nice graduated from Wal-
lowa High School. In
1944, Ray enlisted in the
Navy. He was assigned
to the new destroyer, The
USS Stormes DD 780. He
served in the South Pacifi c
for the Okinawa Invasion
where their destroyer was
hit by a 500 pound bomb.
Ray was discharged on
December 24, 1945. Ray
returned home to Wallowa
to Bernice and their two
daughters. He continued to
work at McDaniel Motors
until 1963 when he pur-
chased the dealership and
changed the name to Mil-
ligan Motors. Ray retired
in 1984 when he sold the
dealership to his son-in-
law Terry Decker. After
retiring, Ray and Ber-
nice enjoyed their winter
months at Desert Center,
California.
Ray played on the Wal-
lowa City Baseball team
and league bowling with
Bee. Ray enjoyed many
years fi shing at Wallowa
Lake, the Troy fi shing
hole, and fi shing and crab-
bing at the Oregon Coast.
He enjoyed hunting. He
won the raffl e for the 2005
elk hunt on The Nature

Conservancy. On opening
day it only took one shot
from 265 yards for Ray to
get his 6 point elk. Ray was
an avid golfer. He donated
time, work, and
equipment
to
promote golf in
the county. He
started the Elks
Golf Tournament
in the 1960’s.
He was instru-
mental in the
long term sta-
bility of Alpine
Meadows, and
was presented
with a Lifetime
Membership.
Many of these
activities were
enjoyed with his
wife Bee, daugh-
ters, sons-in-law,
grandchildren
and friends.
Ray & Bee were chosen
by the Enterprise Chamber
of Commerce to be Grand
Marshals of the 1983
Crazy Days Parade held in
conjunction with the Elks
Golf Tournament.
Ray was a member
of the Alpine Meadows
Golf Course, Toastmas-
ters International, Lions
Club, American Legion,
Past Exalted Ruler of the
B.P.O.E. 1829, President
of the 100 Car Club, and
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Ray is survived by his
wife of 79 years, Bernice
Milligan, daughters: Pat
Patterson of Walla Walla,
Wa., Jean Lenington (hus-
band Ed) of Shelton, Wa.
and Joyce Decker (hus-
band Terry) of Enterprise,
Or., 5 grandchildren: Mike
Patterson, Mark Patterson
(wife Shelly), Steve Ben-
nett (wife Trish), Stacey
Brotherton (husband Neil),
and John Decker (wife
Mandy), 13 great grand-
children and 2 great-great
grandchildren, and sister
Marjorie Spivey of Salem,
Or.
Ray was preceded in
death by his parents, two
brothers, a sister, son-in-
law Jim Patterson, and
son-in-law Bob Bennett.
Irving E. Nuss Jr peace-
fully passed away at the
age of 86 the morning of
December 1, 2018, at his
home in Beaverton, Ore-
gon, after bat-
tling cancer for
over 5 years.
Irv was born
in Russell, Kan-
sas on August 21,
1932, moved to
Enterprise, Ore-
gon in 1948 and
graduated from
Enterprise High
School in 1951.
He spent four
years in the U.S.
Air Force with
2 years based
in Japan before
returning to Wal-
lowa
County.
There he found
the love of his
life, Louise.
Irv had great love for
his family and friends and
lived a life serving oth-
ers and his community.
As an owner of Irv’s 76
service station in Enter-
prise for 30 years, Irv
was the man called when
someone needed some-
thing after all the stations
were closed. Irv served as
Mayor of Enterprise for a
total of 10 years. In addi-
tion, he served 10 years
on the Enterprise School
Board, 20 years with the
Enterprise Fire Depart-
ment (serving for a period
as fi re chief), 20 years as
an ambulance driver and
Emergency Medical Tech-
nician, and 17 years as an
Enterprise City Council-
man. He also spent several
years as a Little League
and Babe Ruth coach
impacting various young
lives in the community.
After retiring from the
station, Irv continued to
touch lives and help young
people. Irv and Lou-
ise became involved with
Community Connection
to drive patients needing
to get to medical appoint-
ments outside the commu-
nity for over 10 years. In
addition, with no kids in
the house it did not take
long for Irv and Louise to
step up to become a host
family for Rotary exchange
students and be foster par-
ents for kids in transition.
Bonnie Lindsey
78 year old Bonnie Lindsey of Wallowa died June
22nd at Wallowa Valley Senior Living. A full obituary
will appear later. Bollman Funeral Home entrusted with
arrangements.
Gordon “Ladd” Osborn
84 year old Gordon “Ladd” Osborn of Enterprise died
June 22nd at Wallowa Memorial Hospital. At this time
no services are planned; a full obituary will appear later.

Female tuxedo sisters born
May 1, 2019, both friendly,
playful and lovable.
Louise (black nose) is more
of a “free bird”, independent
and energetic. Thelma
would rather cuddle. Both
have had their upper
respiratory shot,
de-worming and litter box
trained.
Irv had a deep faith
in God. He was a trustee,
elder, and president at
Grace Lutheran Church.
Irv’s pastor, Rev. Dennis
Schmidt
said:
“Irv was the kind
of person who
treats the whole
world as his
extended family
and Irv will do
anything for his
family.”
Irv received
with
sincere
gratitude
the
many recogni-
tions of his ser-
vice and lead-
ership,
which
included being
named one of the
Ten Outstand-
ing Young Men
in Oregon (1962)
by the Oregon
Jaycees, the Enterprise
Chamber’s Retailer of the
Year (1977), the Chamber
of Commerce Business-
man of the Year (1982),
and Father of the Year
(1985). His life was truly
one of service, love, and
thankfulness.
Irv is survived by his
wife of 61 years, Lou-
ise, his 4 children and
their spouses: Gary (Shel-
ley) of Denver, Colo-
rado, Dave (Sharon) of
Tigard, OR, Julie (Gary
Sieg) of Tigard, OR, and
Jeff (Kathryn) of Portland,
OR, 8 grandchildren: Mar-
shall, Meagan, Stephanie,
Eric, Jeremy, Elliot, Kobe,
and Cameron, and 4 great
grandchildren: Zion, Por-
ter, Sawyer, and Bradley.
He was also predeceased
by his sisters; Joann Web-
ster and Mary Lou Nuss.
A memorial service
will be held Wednesday
July 10th 11:00 AM at
Grace Lutheran Church
in Enterprise. Interment
of Cremains to follow at
the Enterprise Cemetery.
A celebration of life lun-
cheon will be held at the
VFW Hall following the
services.

Donna Smith has been a dedicated Court
Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) since
November 2018. Donna, a retired teacher,
decided she wanted to continue to help Wallowa
County youth have a bright future by advocating
for youth in foster care. She is an active, strong
voice in the court room and in the classroom.
Donna strives to find ways to actively engage
the
youth she serves in our
communities to better their
