A2 OBITUARIES Wallowa County Chieftain Ruth M. Tuski Nov. 18, 1931 — Dec. 17, 2018 Ruth M. Tuski quietly passed away on Dec. 17, 2018 in Enterprise. She was 87. She was born Nov. 18, 1931, to George and Lennis Murphy of Wallowa. She is survived by her children, Dovey Jo Collins & Robert Nystrom. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. at St Katherine’s Church, with graveside service and dinner to follow at the VFW hall in Enterprise on March 23. A full Ruth M. Tuski obituary will follow. Lucille Victor-Beier Jan. 28, 1948 — Jan. 12, 2019 Lucy passed away on January 12 in Kirkland Washington of respiratory fail- ure. She was born on January 28, 1948, in Oregon to Laura Harsin Inman Vic- tor Odam and Emerson Victor. She was half-sister to Roger Inman. Lucy grew up in Enterprise, Oregon and graduated from Enterprise High School in 1966. She married Donald H. Beier of Joseph, Oregon and they moved to Spokane, Washington and Lucille Victor-Beier started a family. They then moved to Kirk- land, Washington in 1976. Lucille and Donald later divorced. Lucy remained in Kirkland until her passing. Proud mother of four girls, Lucy was a stay at home mom until around 1981 when she began her work in accounting. She worked various places over the years including Henry Bacon Lumberyard, Tonkin/Cyrk and Evergreen Hospital. She retired in 2015. Lucy was a lover of pets and wildlife. She also enjoyed shopping, gardening, reading and travel as well as spending time with her family. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and half-brother. She leaves behind her daughters and son-in-laws: Angie and Paul Wooden of Kirkland Washington, April and Les Guske of LaCrosse, Washington, Allison and Bryan Machovsky of Bothell Washington and Amy and Dan Engelhaupt of Virginia Beach Virginia. Also 12 grandchildren: Amanda and Tanner Wooden; Joey, Jessica, Jadyn and Julia Guske; Charlie, Tyler and Branyan Shulkin; and Aidan, Jake and Mason Engelhaupt. A funeral service will be held Saturday January 26th at 11:30 am. at Bollman Funeral Home, 315 West Main Street, Enterprise, Oregon 97828 In lieu of fl owers, donations may be made to either of the following Animal Welfare Organizations in Lucy’s name: Homewardpet.org and Meowcatrescue.org Barbara Kriley May 31, 1925 — Jan. 9, 2019 Susanne Koenig May 10, 1942 — Jan. 5, 2019 Barbara Kriley, 93, passed away of natural causes on Jan. 9, 2019 at Alpine Meadows Assisted Living in Meridian, Idaho. Barbara Bloomsburg was born on May 31, 1925 in Salmon, Idaho and grew up on a farm located on Big Flat down the river from Salmon. After high school she attended the University of Idaho graduating with honors and her teaching degree in Barb Kriley mathematics and chemistry. She married her high school sweetheart, Paul Kri- ley, in June 1946 after he returned from Europe fol- lowing the end of World War II. Their son Pat was born while living in Salmon and Barbara taught school in Salmon as well as in Bandera, Texas before they returned to the Bellevue, Idaho area in 1964. Barbara was very involved with the Village Missions church in Bellevue as well as being an active member of the local P.E.O. organization. She was the typical farm- er’s wife raising a huge garden, feeding the farmhands and keeping the books for the farm where Paul worked. In 1979 they moved to Imnaha, Oregon where she was again very involved in their church and also wrote a weekly article for the Wallow County Chieftain news- paper in Enterprise to keep readers informed of all the important happenings in Imnaha. Paul was an avid trap- per and in the later years the two of them were a con- stant team running the trap line and caring for the furs. They moved back to Idaho in 1998 settling in Grandview to be closer to their son and his family all of whom live in the Boise area. Barbara is survived by her son Pat Kriley, his wife Marcia, granddaughters Rachel Schmidt (husband Lance) and Charity Nelson (husband Mark), great grand- sons Trey, Devon and Ethan Schmidt and great grand- daughters Alyssa and Jessica Nelson. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law, Hilma Bloomsburg, all of whom held a special place in her heart as well as an adopted son Richard Kriley. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Helen Bloomsburg, her sister Betty Butler, brothers Joe and George Bloomsburg and her husband Paul Kriley. A family service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be conducted at Cloverdale Funeral Home on Sun- day, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. A memorial and scattering of her ashes will be conducted later this summer at the Bloomsburg family property on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Susanne Koenig, 76, of Enterprise died at Wallowa Memorial Hospital Jan. 5, 2019. Born May 10, 1942 at Alhambra, California the daughter of Arthur Fred- rick and Marjorie “Bradshaw” Briggs. She attended San Gabriel Mission Grammer and Alhambra High School. Sue married Bill Lucas and worked at Helen Grace Candy Co and then man- Susanne Koenig aged Santa Barbara Savings and Loan. Later she married Myron “John” Koe- nig and she had a deli. In 1998 they moved to Enterprise. She is proceeded in death by her fi rst husband, daughter Julie, son Timothy and grandson Kyle. She is survived by Myron “John” Koenig, two stepsons, son William Lucas, a grandson and a granddaughter, brother Arthur Briggs, sister Toni Madison and many nieces and nephews. She was born May 10, 1937 to Pearl (Ivins) Walker and LeGrande Walker in Ogden, Utah. She attended school for grades 1 and 2 in Ogden, then her family moved to Reno, Nevada, where she attended school in a 2-room country schoolhouse. During fi rst grade, she spent six months Gail Walker Dike in bed with rheumatic fever. At age 9 while riding a horse bareback, the horse ran away with her and she fell off and fractured her skull. After eight days in the hospital she was able to go home where she spent another two weeks in bed. After attending school through the 8th grade in the 2-room school, she attended Reno High School with over 1,000 stu- dents. She was involved in drama, dance and music as well as sports — volleyball and basketball. Gail graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, with a bachelor’s degree in speech therapy and music. Upon attending BYU, she met her future husband, James Alvin Dike on the fi rst day of freshman orientation. They were later married on Sept. 10, 1958 in the Los Angeles Temple in Los Angeles, California. Jim and Gail had four children. Jim worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 33 years during which time they relocated frequently, about every 3-5 years to various towns in Idaho, Nevada and Oregon. They retired in the beautiful Wallowa Valley in Enterprise, Oregon, where she resided until the present. Gail passed away quietly at home from complications due to diabetes. She is survived by her loving spouse of nearly 61 years, Jim and their four children and spouses: Two sons — Tracy (Erika) of Shelton, WA, and Lindsey (Teri) of Klamath Falls, OR. And two daughters — Leslyn (Matt) Rasmussen of Corvallis, OR and Janelle (Corey) Wilcox of Bend, OR, as well as nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She had a voracious appetite for reading good books, and a well-developed green thumb. She loved to grow house- plants and outdoor fl ower gardens and could name over a dozen fl owers by the age of 3. Besides her family, one of her greatest loves was music. She taught piano lessons for more than 30 years and was chorister and organist in her church congregation for many years. She was a stay at home mom for her four children. Gail loved people and they loved her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
