LOCAL Wallowa.com Rymut opens museum fabrication studio By Tim Trainor Wallowa County Chieftain If you are trying to break into the world of fabricating museum-qual- ity installations, Wallowa County may not be the first place you’d think to locate your business. But J.R. Rymut decided to do just that. After spending time with top taxidermists and museum fabricators throughout the West, Rymut decided to start her own business — and base it in downtown Enterprise. And the Wisconsin native has jumped into local work, creating pieces that will help anchor the redesigned Wallowa Band Nez Perce Trail Interpre- tive Center in Wallowa. That center plans to fea- ture Rymut’s creations in their redesigned exhibits set to be showcased this spring. JAN. 1 3:18 p.m. – Donna Chrys- A5 A New Year’s Eve haystack fire on Rancho Road left one firefighter injured and laid waste to multiple tons of hay. Enterprise and Joseph fire departments answered the call to the blaze at around 11:30 p.m on Monday, Dec. 31 and remained on the scene until 5:30 a.m. the next morning — the next year. While working to extinguish the blaze, Amanda McHatten of JFD and Chuck Simpson of EFD were hurt by fall- ing hay bales. Simpson suffered the worst of the injuries and the Joseph McHatten helped extri- cate him from the area. tene Butler, 50, of Enterprise was arrested by Enterprise Police Dept. on a Washing- ton County warrant, charge of Probation Violation, DUI. JAN. 3 3:24 p.m. – Misty Marie McNall, 39, of Enterprise was cited and charged by Enter- prise Police Dept. with Disor- He was taken to Wal- lowa Memorial Hospital for treatment and exam- ination. Although banged up, his injuries were rela- tively minor. The cause of the fire is yet undetermined. Enterprise Fire Depart- ment chief Paul Karvoski said haystack fires can be very difficult to fight. If crews can’t get hold of an excavator, they’re nearly impossible to put out. Local contractor Johnny Gibson, who has an exca- vating business, brought an excavator to the scene to help pull the bales apart and allow firefighters to access the fire. Although the blaze consumed a significant amount of hay, firefight- ers were able to keep the fire from spreading to an adjacent barn that was also filled with hay. derly Conduct II.
