The Earn While You Learn Program, now in its eighth year, awarded 704 students from first to 12th grade in Eastern Oregon and Southeast Washington $1 per top grade, up to $50 annually per student, deposited directly in their Youth Savings accounts. In Wallowa County 59 students from Joseph earned $1,448, 114 students in Enterprise earned $2,826 and 36 students in a total of Wallowa earned $730. Top students from Wallowa have earned more than $200 over the course of the program, which began in 2011, and (depending on how their grades are recorded) could conceivably earn $600 throughout their academic career, accord- ing to Leah Johnson, Marketing Manager of Joseph Community Bank. ‘Every Kid in a Park’ pass offered to fourth-graders Fourth graders are invited to be part of the Every Kid in a Park program offered by the National Park Foundation.
