A6 News wallowa.com August 15, 2018 Wallowa County Chieftain COMING LABOR DAY WEEKEND A DECADE OF JUNIPER JAMS Salute to original music of all types, varieties Juniper Jam –– the sweetest little music festival in Eastern Oregon –– comes to the Wal- lowa County Fairgrounds Sat- urday, Sept. 1. This will be the 10th year Wallowa Valley Music Alli- ance has produced the concert. Music begins 11 a.m. and continues nonstop on two stages until around 10 p.m. Festival-goers will enjoy many styles of music including folk, country, Americana, roots, and rock and blues, as well as great food and drink, local artisans and children’s activities. The common thread is orig- inal music –– honoring the song and its writer. This year’s lineup includes TK and the Holy Know-Noth- ings, featuring Portland song- writer Taylor Kingman sur- rounded by an all-star band — Jay Cobb Anderson and Tyler Thompson (Fruition), Joshua Simon (Shook Twins) and Lewi Longmire (Left Coast Roasters, Brothers and Sister). The group recorded a live album at the OK Theatre last December with engineer Bart Budwig, which is due out soon. The Don of Division Street fronted by Matt Cadenelli and featuring guitarist Anita Lee Elliot will perform along with her band, Anita Lee and the Submitted photos Shane Cooley and the Midnight Girls from Austin, Texas, will perform at Juniper Jam. Handsome 3. “This is one of the most exciting things about this year’s lineup –– the cross-pol- lination between bands,” said festival director Janis Carper. “It really emphasizes the ‘jam’ in Juniper Jam.” A total of 15 will perform. Others on the list include Shane Cooley and the Mid- night Girls from Austin, Texas; alternative rock from The Mondegreens of Seattle; some rootsy soul from The Get Ahead from Portland. Wallowa County favorite Kory Quinn Band from Port- land will return, and the event will welcome newcomer Mary Serenade winner. The young duo, Brother Busk of Portland will also be on hand. The traditional opening Tunesmith Round will feature Jay Cobb Anderson (Fruition), Tommy Alexander and Tracy Spring.
