Call 541-426-4567 to subscribe SUMMARY Wallowa County collects a voter approved transient lodging tax of 5%, paid by tourists, business travelers and other visi- tors. The current tax is dedicated as follows: Twenty percent (20%) to Wallowa County Health Care District Emergency Services; Ten percent (10%) to Wallowa County Search and Rescue; Five percent (5%) to Wallowa County Solid Waste Program; fifteen percent (15%) to County projects as recom- mended by the Board; and Fifty Percent (50%) to Wallowa County Chamber of Commerce of which at least (50%) will be budgeted annually by the Chamber for tourism and business development promotion in Wallowa County. This measure would increase the county transient lodging tax from 5% to 8% in the unincorporated portion of Wallowa County. It is estimated the 3% increase to be $129,520.00 -70% to Wallowa County Fairgrounds ($90,720.00) and 30% to the Wallowa County Sheriff’s office ($38,800.00). A yes vote would enact an increase in transient lodging tax in unincorporated Wallowa County from five percent (5%) to eight (8%). A no vote keeps it at five percent (5%).
