Norma Elliott
Feb. 14, 1926 –– March 15, 2018
What’s Happening
Norma Vonne Elliott,
devoted wife, mother, grand-
mother and great-grandmother,
passed away peacefully sur-
round by loving family at Wal-
lowa Memorial Hospital in
Enterprise. Gone is another
piece of our hearts.
Norma was born to Fred
and Leila (Garrett) Botts in
Flora. She and her six siblings
were raised on a family home-
stead on Buford Ridge. After
graduating from Anatone High Elliott
School, she relocated to Pasco,
Wash., and worked as a telephone operator.
It was there she met the love of her life, Ernest (Jack) Elliott,
an aviation radio man in the U.S. Navy. They were married on
May 26, 1945, in Vancouver, Wash.
Norma and Jack raised their two daughters, Sandra and
Susie, in Olympia, Wash. After their graduation, Norma began
her career working for the Olympia School District. She retired
after more than 25 years of service.
They moved to Grapeview, Wash., where she enjoyed living
on the Puget Sound, salmon fishing, boating, digging clams and
picnicking on the beach with her grandchildren.
She and Jack spent endless hours planting and tending their
Christmas tree farm. She spent the summer months tending her
award-worthy flower gardens of roses, dahlias, gladiolas and
rhododendrons as well as her vegetable garden, which she not so
happily shared with the deer.
They took pleasure in their motor home frequently taking
their grandchildren to visit their lot in Ocean Shores, Wash.,
where they flew kites, built sand castles and dug razor clams.
Norma and Jack loved “snow-birding” in Parker Dam, Ariz.,
where they spent their time golfing, quenching their thirst at
happy hours and dancing at the weekly musicians jams.
Norma is survived by two daughters, Sandy Kinsella of
Enterprise, and Susie Wilkinson (Mike) of Moses Lake, Wash.;
sisters Calista Lampkins (Edwin) of Imbler and Zuah Birkmeier
(Bud) of Enterprise; grandchildren Justin Wilkinson and Jessica
Cole (Lee) of Moses Lake and Jared Wilkinson of Spokane.
Also surviving are great-grandchildren Taylor, Wyatt and
Jadyn Cole of Moses Lake, and Emery and Asher Wilkinson of
Spokane; two sisters-in-law, Helen Jones of Tacoma, Wash., and
Ann Batstone of Shelton, Wash. Also many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; infant daugh-
ter, Cynthia Lee; parents Fred and Leila Botts; and brothers
Ervin (Charlene) Botts, Ivan (Maxine) Botts, Gifford Botts and
Dwight (Jan) Botts.
No services are planned. Memorial donations may be made
to Wallowa Memorial Hospital, Cancer Foundation or a favor-
ite charity.
Circle 100 Clubs plan meetings
All women with ties to
Wallowa County are invited to
join the Circle 100 Club, a giv-
ing circle that comes together
once a year for its “One and
Only Annual Meeting,” 4 p.m.
Thursday, March 22 at the
main conference room at Wal-
lowa Memorial Hospital.
Sponsored by the Wallowa
Valley Health Care Founda-
tion, Circle 100 asks each
member to contribute $100
towards a specific project to
improve or expand health care
services.
“Circle 100 is a fun way
for women to get together for
a good cause,” said foundation
vice president Diana Collins.
The other female Foundation
board members are Becky
Knapp, Gail Swart, Glenda
Underhill and the newest
member, Jolene Cox.
Circle 100 was founded in
2011, with 102 women joining
the first year. The group has
grown steadily since and hopes
to top 200 members this year.
The Men’s Guild 100 was
formed in 2015 by the male
board members of the foun-
dation. Their meeting will be
May 1 at the hospital.

I know our county.
I was born here.
I went to school here.
I raised my family here.
Let’s bring our children home. We need
more family-wage jobs at all skill-levels.
I’ll work to support our local business
owners and to attract Natural Resource
industries and other businesses that are
in-tune with our rural life-style. Working
families need quality affordable housing.
I’ll work with others to encourage it.
