1951. They built a home at
the foot of Wallowa Lake.

Myrlin Steve Allison (Steve) passed away peacefully at his
home in Enterprise at age 97.
He was born in Long Beach,
Calif., to Clifford Stanley
Allison and Myrtle Allison
and grew up in Oxnard, Calif.,
where his folks owned a farm.
Steve developed a pas-
sion for game birds, cattle
and horses. He attended Cal-
Poly San Luis Obispo, Calif.,
for a year until Dec. 7, 1941
when he enlisted into the U.S.
Army Air Force. He served
until the end of the war.
After receiving his pilot Allison
wings, Steve was assigned to
the air transport command ferrying division. His job was deliv-
ering aircraft from the manufacturing plants and elsewhere in
the United States to where they were needed worldwide.
This included Bell P 39 Air Cobras to Fairbanks, Alaska,
where Russian pilots, through the Lend Lease Act, would fly
them back to Siberia.
Steve spent the last year of the war flying transport, carry-
ing everything including food to Chinese troops in Burma and
Southern China. In all, he flew 21 different types of aircraft.
After the war, Steve and his family moved to Le Grand,
Calif, and established a cattle ranch. That is when he married
his sweetheart Gertrude (Trudy) Ann Doerr Nov. 29, 1950.
In 1965, Steve and Trudy moved with sons Mike and Ste-
ven to Joseph where they had a ranch on Tenderfoot Valley
Road. They became partners with their longtime friends Jim
and C. Bell Probert, owning at one time the Joseph Creek
Ranch and later running cattle on the Divide.
Steve retired to property on Alder Slope where he con-
tinued to raise a small herd of Watusi cattle. Owning several
planes, Steve continued his love of flying from the mid ‘70s
to the early ‘90s.
In later years, Steve and Trudy spent their time hunting,
fishing and traveling. His favorite pastime was squirrel shoot-
ing with family and friends.
He was always sharp and witty with a good story that
seemed to take forever to finish. We will always be thankful
for his advice and knowledge. He is forever our hero –– truly
the Greatest Generation.
Steve is survived by Trudy, his devoted wife of 68 years;
sons Mike of Boardman, Ore., and Steven of Mariposa, Calif.;
seven grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He is pro-
ceeded in death by his parents Clifford Stanley and Myrtle
Allison and his brother Aubrey Allison.
There will be a celebration of Steve’s life in the spring.

in Sacramento to Charles and
Edna Perkins, the youngest of

graduating in 1956. Darrell
attended University of Califor-
nia at Davis and graduated with
a bachelor’s degree in mathe-
matics in 1962 while also being

Darrell married Ann (Son-
ntag) Perkins in Davis Sept.
6, 1959. He taught mathemat-
ics for two years in Yuba City, Perkins
Calif.
He re-entered school at Western Washington University and
received a master’s degree in physics in 1965. The family moved
to Fort Collins, Colo., where Darrell taught at Colorado State
University in mathematics until 1973.
During his stay in Colorado, he was an avid outdoorsman and
was a backpacking guide in the Rocky Mountains 1968-1973.
In 1973, the family returned to Oregon to reside in Enterprise.
Darrell worked as a tree faller until 1979 when he was injured.
He then taught science at Enterprise High School until his retire-
ment in 1996.

hunting with hound dogs. Darrell is survived by his wife, Ann;
