children to sing “Silent Night.”

vances during December.

themed Light of Hope Service
will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec.
16, featuring a contemplative
time for people who are car-
rying the pain of loss during
the holiday season. Gather
at The Place, 303 S. Lake St.,
Joseph, next to Joseph United
Methodist Church.
The congregation will host
a candlelight Christmas Eve
Service 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec.
24. Live music and a powerful
Christmas message.
New Year’s eve, Dec. 31, at
10 a.m. the congregation will
hold a Health Kit Assem-
bly Party at The Place. With
all the disasters this past year,
the United Methodist Com-
mittee on Relief said that
they need “health kits” more
than anything. Activities will
start with worship at 10 a.m,
followed by brunch and the
health kit assembly time.

The Enterprise Community
Congregational Church will
have a children’s Christmas
program during the church ser-
vice Dec. 17 at 11 a.m.
On Christmas eve, the con-
gregation will have a can-
dlelight service at 9 p.m. at
the church. The Christmas
story will be read from Luke,
and there will be Christmas
music. Gail Swart will play the
organ and piano. The church is
at 301 NE 1st St., Enterprise.

size Advent during the 11 a.m.
worship services.
Following will be a discus-
sion class with soup and bread
while exploring the season
of Advent in a unique way. A
study is provided for both the
music lover and the biblical
seeker. The class will explore
the scriptural texts of Handel’s
“Messiah” and listen to spe-
cific sections, exploring the
implications of those passages
for today.
A Christmas Eve morning
service will be 11 a.m. featur-
ing carols and community. This
is an informal service focused
on music and community.
A Christmas Eve Candlelight
Service will be 7 p.m., featur-
ing scripture reading, carols
and special music. The event is
a time to explore the Advent of
God in our midst and to cele-
brate the difference He makes.
All members of the com-
munity are welcome.
