O BITUARIES
Barbara Callahan-Chappell
April 2, 1932 –– Nov. 25, 2017
Our mother, Barbara (Barbie) Louise Callahan-Chap-
pell, 85, of Spokane, Wash., passed away peacefully Nov. 25,
2017, surrounded by family.
Born April 2, 1932, in
Kennewick, Wash., she was
the daughter of the late Rob-
ert Christensen and Willa
Christensen.
Mom had many loves:
her family, the outdoors,
fishing and hunting, her ani-
mals, and of course, her tal-
ent as a teacher and artist in
many respects of painting,
to name a few.
She was a dedicated
sports fan to the Mariners,
Seahawks and let’s not
forget Gonzaga. She had
incredible knowledge of
history and only mom could Callahan-Chappell
ever out talk you until 3 a.m.
when you paid her a visit.
Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of
her children. Mom was a great intellect, a strong woman, good
friend to many and most of all a wonderful mother. We will all
miss her beyond measure. Our hearts are heavy but are smil-
ing as she is at peace.
She is survived by her six children; daughter Connie Wil-
liams and husband Willie of Greenacres, Wash.; daughter
Chris Morrison-Berger and husband Mike of Maple Valley,
Wash.; son Tommie D. Callahan III of Pilot Rock, Ore.; son
Robert Callahan of Bullhead, Ariz.; daughter Patty Orcutt
and husband Jim of Lewiston, Idaho; son Scott Callahan Sr.
of Pilot Rock; five grandchildren, Zachary, Stephanie, Tom-
mie, Scott and Sydney; and four great-grandchildren; Yesenia,
Robert, Athena and Aiden. She was preceded in death by her
parents, husbands Tommie Callahan, Jr. and Eugene Chappell
and granddaughter Jennifer Prince.
Graveside services were Dec. 2 at Riverview Heights
Cemetery in Kennewick. The family invites you to sign the
tribute wall at muellersfuneralhomes.com.

Lila Moore
May 28, 1938 –– Nov. 25, 2017
I was born May 28, 1938, on a ranch near Ashland, Kan.
My mother was Capa Willard and dad’s name was Faye
Willard.
I started school in De
Soto, Kan., before we
moved to Portland, Colo.,
where my dad was a fore-
man at the Portland cement
plant. I went to school in
Florence, Colo., and grad-
uated from Florence High
School. While there, I met
Lowell Moore at a dance.
He was stationed at
Camp Carson near Colorado
Springs. We were engaged
for two years while I was
finishing high school and
he finished his tour in Ger-
many. We married June 3,
1956, and traveled to Ore- Moore
gon to meet his mother Myr-
tle, father Raymond, and his family. We returned to Colorado
where he worked at Pueblo Army Depot.
We lived in Pueblo, Canon City and Black Forest, Colo.
After our daughter and son were in school, I worked as a
teachers aide at the Air Academy grade school, retiring in
1993. After retirement, we moved to Troy, Ore., and later
bought Lowell’s mother’s house in Asotin where we spent the
winters.
We always raised a garden and fruit trees and canned many
vegetables and fruit.
I am survived by my husband Lowell; daughter Gail Lynn
Moore-Pivoda; and son-in-law Monte Pivoda; sisters Wanda
and Waunita in Colorado and Carol in Arkansas; brother-in-
law Orvis Moore of Troy, Ore.; sister-in-law Darlene Moore
of Lewiston; many nieces and nephews in Lewiston and Col-
orado. I was preceded in death by son Duane; my mother and
father; granddaughter Shana Lynn Pivoda; mother-in-law
Myrtle; father-in-law Raymond; and brothers-in-law Marlin
Moore, Louis Bononcini and Ben Baccarella.
A memorial will be held at a later date.

Rosemary B. Green
March 4, 1928 –– Dec. 1, 2017
Rosemary Barnes Green, 89, passed away in College Station,
Texas. A memorial service will be held at Christ United Meth-
odist Church in College Station
11 a.m. Jan. 6, 2018.
Rosemary was born March
4, 1928, in San Diego at Mercy
Hospital. She was the only
child of Wilmeth (Chapman)
and Hartwick Barnes, growing
up in the Mission Hills district
of San Diego. She attended ele-
mentary school there and Fran-
cis Parker private school, Roo-
sevelt Junior High School and
San Diego High.
Growing up on Cypress
Way, she played with the neigh-
borhood kids; played ball in the
street with the boys; and pulled
a Scotty dog named Glenna
Green
around in a little red wagon.
Rosemary was a gifted stu-
dent, had piano lessons for eight years and belonged to the ZLAC
Rowing Club on Mission Bay where she rowed competitively.
Her father was a member of the San Diego Yacht Club where
Rosemary learned sailing and enjoyed swimming. In summers
Rosemary spent time in Julian, Calif., working with her uncle,
Franklin Barnes, packing apples and pears. During the summer,
she also took ice skating lessons at Glacier Gardens.
She entered Stanford University in 1949, studying biological
sciences, psychology and Spanish. Later in life, she could speak
four languages –– Spanish, Portugese, German and French. She
also studied Japanese.
Rosemary met Don Green at Stanford University, and they
were married in 1948. They moved to San Diego County.
Four children followed in rapid succession: Catherine,
Lucinda, Margery and Douglas. Vacations included sailing,
camping, backpacking, skiing and visiting most of the National
parks in the west. They bought acreage in El Cajon (San Diego
County) where they developed an avocado ranch with Rose-
mary’s parents. All their children attended school in El Cajon and
became university graduates.
Rosemary was a wonderful homemaker and caring mother.
She was an excellent seamstress, making dresses for her daugh-
ters and costumes for several community theatres. After the chil-
dren left home, she became a certified Spanish and Latin teacher,
teaching gifted and high school students. Her greatest joy was
being with her children and grandchildren.
In 1972 Rosemary and Don bought a cattle ranch in Ore-
gon. They also became licensed pilots, flying all over the North-
west. Rosemary became a member of the “99s”, an international
women’s flying club. She would often fly a Cessna 182 solo to
meetings.
In later years, their travels took them to Alaska, Brazil, Belize
and the Caribbean, Germany, Spain, Turkey and Papua New
Guinea.
Rosemary and Don were members of the Joseph United Meth-
odist Church in Oregon and Christ UMC in College Station. They
spent more than 50 years singing together in church choirs.
They moved to Texas in 2011 to live near their daughter Cath-
erine. Survivors include husband Don, all four children, eight
grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

This week’s athlete of the week is basketball player Jimmy Wells of
Enterprise High School. The amazing senior took the court by storm during the
Outlaws 51-48 loss to Elgin in the championship game of the
Enterprise Winter Classic tournament on Dec. 9.
Wells scored nearly half the team’s points, using his laser focus and 110 percent
effort in breaking though the Huskies’ iron-curtain zone defense for his 23-point
effort. Wells is a constant honor roll presence and participates in FFA. He intends
to study wildlife sciences upon graduation.
