The Enterprise cross-country girls team
fared the best of all the teams vying for state
supremacy over the weekend. The Out-
laws combined team took on all comers and
returned with the gold from the 1A/2A/3A
state meet at Lane Community College in
Eugene. It was the fi rst girls cross-country
championship in the school’s history.
Coach Dan Moody was ecstatic with the
team’s 63-point performance, blowing by
Union’s 88-point effort. The ladies competed
against 11 other schools, including some with
much larger enrollment, to win the gold.
“It’s pretty special for me,” Moody said.
“They all work hard. It’s a tremendous group
of kids, and it was a great team effort on all
their parts.”
Moody said he was panicked in the fi rst
half of the race when several key runners
were behind Union’s runners, who were the
Outlaws’ main competition. On the second
loop of the race, he saw that the girls had
picked up the pace and left the Union run-
ners in their wake. He also noted that several
