An Educational Display Exhibit Explanation Card (000-01)
must be attached to each exhibit. Judging criteria are out-
lined on the 4-H Educational Display Check Sheet (40-463).

Finishing a Space
These finishing touches for a room are made from new,
recycled or refurbished items for a specific loca-
tion, described in detail on the explanation card.
Club exhibits are to be entered under the club name but must
include the names of all members and leaders. This may be
on a separate paper securely attached to the back of the
exhibit. Club exhibits will receive one ribbon per exhibit.

340 100 17_ Accessory for seasonal use in a room.
340 100 18_ Accessory for outdoor use.
Each piece of an exhibit must have name, county and
class number securely attached to it. All parts of the dis-
play should be attached to one another in some way to
keep the exhibit together as a unit. Single posters may be
displayed by hanging or stapling to the wall. All other dis-
plays should be free standing. All information contained in
the exhibit must be able to be viewed by the public by looking
at the display. Sources must be listed on the front of the dis-
play.
Making a Healthy Space
340 100 19_ Problem Solving for a space. Identify a prob-
lem (as problem windows, storage needs, inconve-
nient room arrangement, cost comparison, energy
conservation, waste management, etc.) Using
poster, notebook, multimedia presentation (on CD)
or other method, describe the problem and how it
was solved.

To celebrate the diversity in our world, each year the
Oregon 4-H project areas will focus attention on
the cultures of a different country or region of the
world. This special emphasis allows members to
focus on learning about the country/region and the
skills and techniques unique to that culture.

EDUCATIONAL DISPLAYS
Exhibitors may enter only one exhibit per class. These class-
es are open to all 4-H members and are especially appropri-
ate for those projects which have no separate exhibit classes
or for locally developed projects. (Note: Educational dis-
plays about any aspect of conservation or honeybees should
entered in these classes in the Natural Science exhibits.
Educational displays about science should be entered in the
Science Investigation Display classes with the science
exhibits.)
The exhibit may be a poster or a three-dimensional display.
Posters are limited in size to 30” by 24”.
Individual three-dimensional displays are limited in size to
48” wide (measured when lying flat), 24” deep
(front to back), and 36” high. Club exhibits are limited in size
to 60” wide, 24” deep and 36” high. The
weight of any display cannot exceed 30 pounds..
Exhibits may include pictures, models, diagrams and actual
articles if they qualify for the safety standards listed below.
Drawings or photos which are an essential part of the display
should be firmly attached to the board. Loose materials like
soil, bark or sand must be displayed in closed
containers.The display may include flyers, business cards,
information sheets, etc. for public distribution. Enough
should be provided to last throughout the entire fair.
No books or notebooks will be accepted as part of the
display. The following materials will not be allowed on the
display for safely reasons:

Living organisms-plants or animals
•
Any liquids
•
Aerosol bottles or other pressurized gases
•
Glass
•
Hazardous substances
•
Sharp items
Display (all parts) should be able to last the duration of the
fair in good repair.

CONTEST
All record books are due 5:00 PM July 1 at the Extension
Office. Late entries will not be accepted nor
judged. See the Wallowa County Records Primer
for complete information. Record Books will be
released from 2:30-3:30 PM the last Saturday of
fair.

Each 4-H club news reporter should obtain a Report Cover
to secure a minimum of 3 sets of actual reports submitted to
be published in the newspaper. Inside the Report Cover, the
club reporter should include the actual printed copies of
reports cut from the newspaper with the date printed in the
paper written on the clipping or page. A separate section for
the handwritten copies of all articles should follow. Member’s
name, the club’s name and the 4-H year (2013-14) should be
located on the upper right hand corner of the Report Cover.
The 4-H Reporter's Book is to contain news reports of only
their 4-H club, rather than all 4-H news of the county. 4-H
Reporter Books are due 5 PM, July 1 at the Extension
office.
4-H SECRETARY BOOK

Each 4-H Club Secretary should obtain a 4-H Secretary's
Book from the County Extension office. The 4-H Secretary
should keep records of each meeting and other requested
information in the Secretary's Book.4-H Secretary Books
are due 5 PM at the Extension office July 1. Secretary
Books will be released from 2:30—3:30 PM the last
Saturday of fair.
4-H COURT
4-H Court is open to Wallowa County 4-H members having
completed the 7—9 grades. Applications and complete rules
are available from the Wallowa County Extension Office.
Deadline for application is July 16.
4-H Cloverbuds
Kindergarten—3rd Grade
Adventure youth MUST be enrolled in the “4-H Cloverbud”
project to exhibit in these categories.
All participants will receive a ribbon for the item exhibited.
There are no competitive placements or premium
4-H AWARDS

4-H HOME EC LEADERS AWARD
$40 cash to 12th Grade 4-H member who has 2 or more
Family and consumer science Projects. Participation is
required in: Spring & County Fair, Fashion Revue,
Presentation & Record Book. A committee of Family and
consumer science leaders will review record books of candi-
dates and make final decision.
FOODS & CLOTHING
Award presented to the Member with the most points in Food
exhibits--$10 cash award from South Fork Grange GWA
Award presented to the Member with most points entries in

Newell Brands Inc., marketers of Ball® and Kerr™ Fresh
Preserving Products, is proud to recognize today’s fresh pre-
serving (canning) enthusiasts. An award for 1st place will be
presented to the individual whose home canned entry is
selected the best in the category.
A panel of judges will select the best entry in each category
for Fruits, Vegetables, Pickles, and Soft Spreads. Entries
must be preserved in Ball® Jars sealed with Ball® Lids and
Bands specially designed for home canning, or preserved in
Kerr™ Jars sealed with Kerr™ Lids and Bands specially
designed for home canning. In addition, entries in the soft
spread category must be prepared using Ball® Pectin:
Classic, Low or No-Sugar, or Liquid. Proof of pectin pur-
chase in the form of a receipt or product UPC must be sub-
mitted with entry.
