27. A champion and reserve champion will be selected only when judge deems there are entries of champion quality. Grand
champion and reserve grand champion female of each species shall be selected from the champion and reserve cham-
pion female of each breed.
4-H SHOWMANSHIP
Showmanship contests are held in dairy, dairy goat, meat goat, beef, sheep, swine at Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels.
Champion and Reserve Champion will be given in each division and may return to participate in All-Around Grand
Champion and Reserve Grand Champion classes.
Any member who wins showmanship in two different species must declare immediately following the class which
species he/she will show in the all-around so alternate can plan accordingly.
1. Exhibitors must show in showmanship in the species in which they are exhibiting a market animal. Showmanship in at
least one species in each division is required unless excused by Department Superintendent and 4-H Agent. (Livestock
& Small Animal are different divisions).
2. Members may enter showmanship in more than one species.
3. Member must show in showmanship to sell a market animal.
4. Your appearance in the show ring makes an impression on the judge. This means your clothes should be clean and
neat. When showing, a clean button-up collared shirt and pants are acceptable. Long sleeves are recommended. .
No tank tops, cut off t-shirts or shorts. Protective footwear required.
5. Members can show the same animal in showmanship more than one year. If two members share a project, they both
can show the same animal in showmanship (as long as they can show in separate classes.)
6. A 4-H member may use another 4-H member's animal in showmanship only if the animal has not been shown in a pre-
vious showmanship class. (This is only in the case of hardship).
7. The species allowed in all-around showmanship will be Beef, Sheep and Swine. One additional species (Dairy Cattle,
Dairy Goat, Pygmy Goat, Meat Goat) will be added only when there are 8 exhibitors combined in 4-H and/or FFA at the
fair. For the next additional species, there will be need to be 10 then 12 exhibitors respectively to allow enough animals
for each age division.
4-H LIVESTOCK JUDGING
1. A 4-H member may judge in any and all 4-H judging contests in project area(s) in which they are enrolled.
2. To qualify for the County Livestock Judging team, member must judge in two livestock judging contests (Wallowa County
Spring Livestock Judging, Eastern Oregon Livestock Show and Wallowa County Fair Livestock Judging Contests).

The Livestock Herdsmanship Contest is open to all 4-H Livestock Clubs.
Small Animal Members are awarded a different award.
This contest begins Thursday AM and concludes Saturday PM.

All dairy goats must be dehorned. Pygmy and Angora goats will not be allowed. Only bucks kidded after August 1 and nursing
a doe will be allowed. Otherwise, no bucks allowed.
