“Pee Wee” Sheep and Goat Showmanship Contest for
pre-4-H’ers (under fourth grade). The contest will be
held on Saturday at 10:00 am. Sign up on the Food
Booth Bulletin Board.
Pens will not be available for the animals used. The partici-
pants may arrange to borrow an animal that is already
housed on the fairgrounds. If the contest member
owns an animal, they may bring it just prior to contest
and take it home directly after. Ribbons will be present-
ed. Novice class for 9 year olds will receive blue rib-
bons (Champion and Reserve Champion ribbons for
top 2 placings.)

Deliver fleece to the Quonset Hut by 6 pm,
Wednesday, August 9th.
RULES & REGULATIONS RELATING TO EXHIBITS IN
WOOL DIVISION:
1. Two individual entries and one group of 3 fleece per
exhibitor.
2. Fleece shown in individual classes cannot be shown in
Group of 3 Fleece classes.
3. All fleece will be shown in breed classes. Mark breed
on Wool exhibit tag. (Get tags at Fair Office at 668 NW
1st St.)
4. Each fleece shall represent no more than 12 months
growth except in case of yearling fleece, when 16
months growth will be allowed.
5. All divisions will include the same classes for both
Adult and Junior sections.
6. If the judge determines that any fleece is in the wrong
class, he/she has the authority to place the fleece
in its proper class.

Wheelbarrow Race – Grab a partner and race your
“wheelbarrow” to the finish line for fun prizes.
2. 3 Legged Race – See who can run the fastest with
one leg tied to your partner.
3. Water Balloon Toss – See who can stay the driest
while tossing a water balloon from partner to part-
ner.
4. Egg and Spoon Race – Don’t drop that egg or the
yolks on you! First one to the finish line with a
whole egg wins the prize. Watch those obstacles!
AND……
5. The Big Balloon Scramble – A herd of balloons will
be released in the wild. Capture your balloon and
pop it for a surprise. More than one balloon is a
winner!
Contestants will be split into age groups.
Details of the races will be explained
before starting time.
Decision of the judge is final in any of the contests.
Wallowa County Fair Board or others connected with
the fair will not be responsible
for any accident connected with these contests.

METHODS OF AWARDS & PAYMENT OF PREMIUMS
The merit method of awards will be used in all classes.
Exhibits will be placed in one of three categories
according to merit or quality of each exhibit.
2. Categories are “Blue, Red, and White”. Premium
points shall be 25, 15 and 10. (Champion 3 points,
Reserve Champion 2 points.)
3. Premium money is provided by the Wallowa County
Fair Board.
4. Premium money and market proceeds will be made
available to members as soon after show as possible.
5. All premium checks should be cashed within 6
months of issue or they will be forfeited.
6. Misconduct of 4-H/FFA member at Fair shall be cause
for withholding auction money. Any intentional damage
to property traced to exhibitors will be paid out of their
auction money.
7. Any violation of the rules of this book regarding events
mentioned herein shall bar exhibitors from exhibiting or
entering contests.

GENERAL FAIR RULES
1. WEIGH-IN: All 4-H/FFA animals are to be on fair -
grounds and signed in with the superintendent at the
check-in station by 8 PM on Wednesday.
2. Show equipment, feed and animals must be onsite by
8pm Wednesday. NO vechicles or trailers will be
allowed on the grass on weigh-in day. Move in and
set-up is 8:00am - noon and after weigh-ins are com-
pleted. Assistance will be provided if needed to move
in. NO set-up will be allowed on Tuesday.
3. Stalls & pens will be assigned to all exhibitors and must
be left cleaned of manure by Tuesday following the fair.
Exhibitors must furnish own hay/grain. Members will
provide shavings for bedding. DO NOT USE STRAW!
(This rule applies to horses being shown as well) (With
the exception of swine barn where no bedding is
allowed)
4. All animals must be free from disease and can be
required to leave grounds upon diagnosis of disease.
5. All animals giving evidence of artificial coloring or reme-
dying physical defects of conformation will be barred
from exhibition.
Use of talcum powders, oils, or other artificial coating mate-
rials will not be allowed when fitting/ showing animals
in swine classes.
6. All cattle must be double tied (one rope from halter and
one from neck) in their stalls. Unruly animals WILL be
excused from fair.
7. Tranquilized animals will not be allowed. (A licensed vet-
erinarian may tranquilize an animal on grounds to pre-
vent property damage or danger to people, however
the animal(s) must be promptly removed.) The show
reserves right to use appropriate tests to detect these
substances.
8. All breeding ewes, rams and lambs (wethers included)
must have an official USDA identification if they are to
be shown or sold.
9. All protests must be in writing and accompanied by
deposit of $25. The protest must plainly state cause of
complaint and be given to a Fair Board member within
24 hours after cause of the protest. If ruled unjustified,
deposit is forfeited.
