on ‘Live Wire’
Lostine sheep breeder
June Colony will be a guest
on the “Live Wire” show,
which airs on Oregon Public
Radio 3 p.m. Saturday, May
6. The weekly show hosts an
eclectic cadre of artists, mu-
sicians, writers, comedians
and cultural observers and is
hosted Luke Burbank.
The show is normally
taped in Portland; however,
the May 6 version was re-
corded at Hamley’s Slick-
fork Saloon in Pendleton.

Our Sweet Jeanne went home to heaven af-
ter a valiant battle with cancer.
She was born in Tacoma, Wash., and moved
with her family to Charleston, S.C. In grade
school she moved to Enterprise and graduated
from Enterprise High School. Then she attend-
ed Eastern Oregon State for a time.
She married her sweetheart Paul Terry and moved to Elgin,
Ore., to raise her family. She later moved to Cheyenne, Wyo-
ming, and about a year ago moved to Irrigon, Ore. Jeanne is
proceeded in death by her father Wayne Eckley and her son
Jason Terry. She is survived by her husband Paul Terry of Irri-
gon, son Clifton Terry and grandson Mason Terry of Cheyenne,
mother Patricia Eckley of Burns, Ore., sister Julie (John) Dalton
of Ontario, Ore., brother Wayne Eckley Nyssa, Ore. and sis-
ter Bonnie Rassmussen of Burns as well as many other family,
cousins and friends.
In her younger days, Jeanne and Paul spent time square
dancing. She enjoyed fi shing trips on their pontoon boat and
loved traveling in their motor home. After moving to Irrigon,
Jeanne enjoyed Zumba and pickle ball. She worked as a sec-
retary and bookkeeper for the family business. Jeanne will be
missed by all who knew her.
Per her wishes, there will be no formal services. A small
family gathering and celebration of her life was held April 29.

Eva Slinker, of Salem, Ore., passed away peacefully on
April 22, 2017, at age 87. She was the eldest and last survivor
of three siblings born to George and Judith Havas, who emi-
grated from Budapest, Hungary, to live and raise their children
in Oakland, Calif.
Eva attended college in Michigan where she studied music.
She later married Don Robinson, with whom she had three chil-
dren: Linda Marie Robinson, Kenneth Alan Robinson and Tere-
sa (Sam) Luttenberger (Robinson).
She met and married her second husband, Al Slinker, before
moving to Enterprise, Ore., where they became ranchers. Eva
learned the ways of a ranch wife and partner and helped to cre-
ate a successful livestock and ranching operation.
Eva became a passionate supporter of and participant in the
arts community, shifting from a music focus to the visual arts.
She studied at Eastern Oregon University and later received an
MFA from Portland State University.
She was a founding member of the Eastern Oregon Regional
Arts Council and a member of the Oregon Arts Commission.
Eva also gave her energies and focus to being a board member
for Wallowa Resources and participating in the Wallowa Coun-
ty Mental Health Advisory Council.
Eva is survived by her children, Linda Robinson, Ken Rob-
inson (Michelle), and Teresa (Sam Robinson) Luttenberger
(Mark); her step-sons Randy Slinker (Pam) and David Slinker;
her grandchildren James Robinson (Ashley), Lynn (Robinson)
Farias (Juan), Jake Slinker and Nathan Slinker (Aschley); and a
great-grandchild Kenny.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of fl owers, dona-
tions may be sent to the Oregon Community Foundation, Eva
H. Slinker Northeastern Oregon Fund, 1221 SW Yamhill, Suite
100, Portland, OR 97205.

Donna Mae (Silver) Johnston
Feb. 1, 1939 –– April 24, 2017
Donna Mae (Silver) Johnston died April 24, 2017, at the
Wallowa Memorial Hospital. A memorial service and potluck
were held April 29 at the Wallowa Senior Center.
Donna Mae was born Feb. 1, 1939, with her twin brother
Donald, to Ralph and Juanita (Werst) Silver in La Grande, Ore.
The twins were so small they both fi t in one of their father’s
shoe boxes. Ralph could take his wedding band and slide it over
Donna Mae’s foot.
The family lived in Wallowa on a ranch where she spent her
entire childhood.
Donna Mae graduated from Wallowa High School in 1957.
She was a cheerleader and went by the nickname Daisy Mae.
She attended college in Spokane before returning to Wallowa to
begin working in the local bank as a teller.
She had three children: Bobbie Lou (Kenny) Baker of Wal-
lowa, Schevelle (Ken) Wortman of Wallowa and Ralph (Loret-
ta) Hewett of Richland, Ore.
On April 14, 1972, she married Perry Melvin Johnston,
the love of her life. Together they ranched and farmed, raising
sheep and cattle on their ranch in Wallowa. They spent each day
together working in the lambing barn, working the fi elds and
enjoying the life they both loved.
She was active in the 4-H programs, rural fi re district,
tri-county wool pool and numerous other organizations. She
enjoyed socializing and having a good time. She loved dancing,
horseback riding and four-wheeler trips.
Donna Mae is survived by her husband Perry of 45 years,
daughters Bobbie Lou Baker and Schevelle Wortman and
son Ralph Hewett. She had eight grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren. She was known as “mom” to many local
kids while her own children were growing up.
Donna Mae was proceeded in death by her parents Ralph
and Juanita Silver, her twin Donald Silver, her grandson Je-
romie Bunch and great-grandson Kaen Wortman.
In lieu of fl owers, donations can be made to the Wallowa
Valley Senior Living, Wallowa County 4-H or charity of choice.
Bollman Funeral Home of Enterprise is in charge of arrange-
ments.

Since I am running for the Enterprise
School Board, I thought you should
know a little bit about me.
Family: Married for 14 years in June to Amy. We have three kids
Gabriella (5), Luke (8) and Allison (11). All three will be in the Enterprise
school system next school year.
Occupation: President of Viridian Management, Inc. We have
approximately 160 employees in Oregon, Washington and Idaho and
manage 93 properties with 3,050 apartments.
Wallowa County Activities: Awana Club Commander at First Baptist
Church, Elder at Summit Church, Wallowa County Board Member for
the Eastern Oregon Workforce Board and Wallowa Lake Yacht Club
Commodore.
Military: I served in the US Marine Corp Reserve and the Oregon Army
National Guard. I was deployed to the Sinai, Egypt following 9/11.
Education: I believe in lifelong learning. I have a B.S. in Finance from the
University of Wyoming and then completed a fifth year of accounting
classes through Southern Oregon University.
Currently, I am working on a Master’s Degree
in Accounting through Liberty University.
Background: I grew up in Afton,
Wyoming which is a community
very similar to Wallowa County.
When I was 15, I moved to
Central Point Oregon, where I
graduated from high school.
After high school I returned to
Wyoming to attend college.
