O BITUARIES
Linda Sue (Conrad) Lewis
Dec. 15, 1955 –– March 23, 2017
Linda Sue Lewis, 61, of Wal-
lowa, died March 23 at Wallowa
Memorial Hospital after losing her
battle with breast cancer. A cel-
ebration of Linda’s life will take
place noon Saturday, April 15, at
the Wallowa High School gym.
Linda Sue was born Dec. 15,
1955, in La Grande to Wes and
Betty (Holloran) Conrad; she was
the fi fth of six children. She at-
tended fi rst through sixth grade at
Wallowa and junior high in Los-
tine. She graduated from Wallowa High School in 1974.
Linda played volleyball, participated in track and was a
cheerleader. She was also active in band and drama. Linda Sue
attended one year at Eastern Oregon State College in La Grande.
On Sept. 6, 1975, she married Vearl Lewis and together they
raised three children: Chris, Jared and Laura. She was a Little
League coach and a designated driver for any activity in which
her children were involved. Her mini-van was often loaded to
the max with kids and equipment.
Linda enjoyed camping, hiking and backpacking in the Wal-
lowa mountains, visiting the Oregon coast, quilting, and most of
all, spending time with her family.
One of Linda’s passions was cooking and baking, and testing
new recipes at family dinners. Her pumpkin rolls were always a
family favorite at Christmas-time. Linda Sue also loved spend-
ing time on the Holloran family homestead in Kalispell, Mont.,
with her mother and sisters.
Early on, she was employed as a waitress and also as a den-
tal receptionist. In August 1986 Linda went to work for Wal-
lowa School District as the high school secretary, a position she
would hold for the next 30 years. She was a secretary, coach,
and most importantly a friend to everyone at the school.
She was a great multi-tasker. Linda could soothe an upset
parent, locate supplies for a teacher, enter data on her computer
and remind a student where they were supposed to be, all with-
out ever raising her voice.
For 20 years, one of the highlights of the school’s seniors last
day was receiving a personalized quilted pillow from Linda Sue.
She made time for everyone, always with a smile.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Vearl; son Chris,
his wife Tracy, and daughter Esther of Fossil, Ore.; son Jared,
his wife Tiyah, and children Triston, Grady and Tori of Mon-
mouth, Ore; and daughter Laura of Wallowa.
Linda is also survived by sisters Toni and Carol Jean, broth-
ers Dennis, Clifford and Kim, 19 nieces and nephews and 18
great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
parents and her niece, Angie.
Memorial contributions can be made in Linda’s name to
Friends of Wallowa School District, P.O. Box 229, Wallowa, OR
97885 or to a charity of choice.
Dian D. Beard Clark Ingle
July 11, 1941 – April 4, 2017
Dian D. Beard Clark Ingle was born
in Joseph on July 11, 1941. She passed
away in Enterprise on April 4, 2017.
She was preceded in death by Joan In-
gle Cantoria, Pearl F. Houck Beard Ingle
and Ralph E. Beard. She is survived by
her four children, Holly L. Hutchison,
Dorace F. Mantz, Mathew L. Clark and
Maurace E. Clark. A memorial service
will be held April 22 at 11 a.m. at the VFW Hall in Enterprise.
