3:37 p.m. Two men were arrest-
ed outside of rural Enterprise for
disorderly conduct, despite being
warned that if they continued
to fi ght they would be arrested.
According to the Wallowa County
Sheriff’s Offi ce, deputies found
Samuel Gene Warr, 29, and
Lucas Alan Esquibel, 25, both of
Joseph, fi ghting and warned them
they would be arrested if they con-
tinued. The two men left the area
and fought again at 4:10 p.m., so
they were cited for both incidents.
4:45 p.m.: Wallowa County Cir-
cuit Court issued a warrant for the
arrest of Christine Aleen Dyer, 49,
of McMinnville, for failure to appear.
4:56 p.m.: 911 complaint of a
vehicle stuck in snow at a resi-
dence in Joseph

9:17 p.m.: Negotiating a bad
check reported in Enterprise.
2:26 p.m.: Non-injury traffi c
crash reported in Enterprise.

8:32 a.m.: Jeffrey Brian Meyer,
48, of Joseph, was cited and
released and charged with two
counts of burglary and two
counts of theft.
10:41 a.m.: Trespass complaint
in rural Enterprise.
8:58 p.m.: Warrant was issued
for the arrest of Darren Lee Weav-
er, 46, of Wallowa for fl eeing or
attempting to elude a police offi cer
and driving while suspended.

11:12 a.m.: Two dogs reported
missing in Enterprise.
11:57 a.m.: Snowmobiling com-
plaint in rural Wallowa.

John Frederick Herman Reister
March 28, 1928 to Nov. 30, 2016
John Fredrick Herman Reister was born March 28, 1928,
in Peshastin, Washington, to Reverend John F. Reister and
Johanna Elizabeth Mees Reister. He died on November 30,
2016, in Enterprise, Oregon, where he had retired with his
wife, Eunice, in 1989.
John was the youngest of 11 children and, as a child, lived
with his parents in various towns in Washington, Colorado,
and California. He graduated from Walla Walla High School
in 1946, and joined the US Army during World War II, serv-
ing in Germany. He received a Bachelors degree in Religion
from Pacifi c University, Forest Grove, Oregon, in 1952. He
graduated with a Masters degree in Library Science from San
Jose State University in 1967, and spent most of his working
years as a professional librarian at various state universities,
including Eastern Oregon State University (1963-1974), Cal-
ifornia State University Chico (1974-1984), and California
State University Hayward (1984-1989). He married Eunice
Marsh Munsey in 1966, and became a father to her two sons,
Michel and Steven Munsey.
John loved creating stained glass artwork for family and
friends; was a sports car enthusiast and member of the Car
Nuts who met weekly in Joseph; baked cookies and hosted
dinners for everyone he loved; attended the Walla Walla sym-
phony for years; and enjoyed stimulating intellectual conver-
sations.
John is survived by his son, Steven, and daughter-in-law,
Denise, his sister Betty Reister Cornwell and brother Jim
Reister, nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, Eunice, his
son, Michel, and eight of his eleven sisters and brothers.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at the Enterprise
Community Congregational Church, 301 NE 1st St, Enter-
prise, Oregon, on Jan. 7 at 1 p.m.
Donations in lieu of fl owers may be made in John’s name
to any of the following: American Friends Service Committee,
Southern Poverty Law Center and Walla Walla Symphony
Frances Colleen Evans
passed away at her home in
Wallowa on Friday, Dec. 9 at
age 89.
She was born Nov. 10,
1927 in Enterprise to Mary
Gladys (Collinsworth) and
Benjamin Franklin McClain.
Colleen attended school
in Enterprise and graduated
from Enterprise High School
in 1945.
She worked for the U.S.
Forest Service, JC Penney and
the Enterprise Phone Compa-
ny in the 1940s. In 1949 she
met and married Robert “Bob” Evans. They raised two chil-
dren, Valerie and Bob, and were together for 65 years.
She enjoyed baking, reading books, being out painting and
crocheting. She belonged to the lady’s auxiliary VFW and en-
joyed Red Hats.
Colleen is survived by two sisters, Ardis Klages of Joseph
and LaRose LeFord of Walla Walla, Wash., and many nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Benja-
min, her brother Ray McClain and husband Robert and her two
children Valerie and Bob.
In lieu of fl owers please donate to the friends of the Wallowa
Library, Wallowa Senior Center or the charity of your choice.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring.

James Craig White
July 3,1948 to Nov. 23, 2016
James Craig White of Enterprise passed away on Nov. 23,
2016, at his home in Enterprise, surrounded by his family, at
the age of 68.
He was born July 3, 1948, in Kearney, Nebraska to James
and Val Jean White. Craig proudly served in the U.S. Air Force
and was a Vietnam Veteran. He spent the rest of his working life
in the construction industry, and upon his retirement moved to
Oregon to pursue his passion for the shooting sports. He was a
longtime member of the Eagle Cap Shooters Association and an
avid reloader.
Craig is survived by Nicolle Rene Sandusky (and husband
Donnie) of Long Beach, CA, Benjamin William White (and
wife Sarah) of Reno, NV; Cassie Carrol, Bethany Noel, and
John Craig White of Folsom, CA. Siblings Cristi Bush of Wil-
domar, CA; Cheri Manning of Mt. Vernon, OR and Curtis White
of Joseph, OR. Grandchildren: Michael, Addison and Tommy.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents. A ceremony will be
held in June at the Eagle Cap Shooters Range.

M. Colleen DeGrofft, of Hermiston, a longtime Wallowa
County resident, was born on Sept. 30, 1925 in Richland, Ore-
gon. She died on December 12, 2016 in Hermiston, Oregon at
the age of 91 years.
A celebration gathering will be held at a later date.
