Two weeks ago the old wooden bridge was removed and a new steel structure put in its place. • Registration of voters in the county has been complet- ed and the books in County Clerk Zurcher’s ofice have closed. The total number of registered voters is 3541, against 3320 on the books at this time two years ago, a gain of 221. • A traveling salesman took a straw vote for presi- dent on the passenger train coming in yesterday after- noon. The salesman was a republican and Aaron Wade, who was coming in from La Grande, checked up the re- sults, which showed 42 votes for Wilson and 28 for Hughes. Democrats were so pleased with the vote that they have been telling it to all comers. • Enterprise school notes: A hot water tank has been installed in the grade school. The water is piped to the lava- tories for the use of the pupils and is also used for cleaning purposes. • The moving pictures tak- en last summer of the gather- ing at the watermelon festival at the foot of the lake will be shown at the People’s The- atre, Joseph, next Monday evening. The money was taken from three rooms. Several other rooms were entered and ransacked but nothing taken. • Tragedy struck swiftly at the F. Thomas Hurlburt home in Enterprise Monday when their two-year-old son was instantly killed by a car be- ing backed out by Mrs. Cora Richards from the Richards garage. • New Ford truck owners are Bill Fleser and Delman Brown. Bill Platzoeder has a new Ford coach.
