Mina Betts
1922 to 2016
Mina Grandahl Brown Betts
was born Feb. 11, 1922 in Mo-
bridge, S.D., to Amund and May
Grandahl.
Mina started school in South
Dakota. While in grade school
her family decided to move to
Joseph, where she completed her
education. She graduated from
Enterprise High School in 1940.
After graduation, Mina worked
for a creamery, where she met
Burl Brown. They dated and later
married on Aug. 24, 1942. In 1956 they adopted a three-month-old
baby boy and named him Roy.
In 1959 Burl got a job at Hanford and the family relocated to
Kennewick. Mina enrolled at Columbia Basin College and com-
pleted bookkeeping courses.
As a family they enjoyed vacations to Washington and Oregon
coasts, as well as many camping trips.
After Burl passed in 1976, Mina worked for Royal Crown Bot-
tling Co. in Pasco. In 1990, she met Parlan Betts and they married
in 1991. They traveled extensively. Parlan passed in November
1992.
Mina belonged to the Red Hat Society and Rambling Rovers.
She also was a member of the local Eagles and the Rebekahs,
where she held several offi ces.
Mina loved to travel, played Bingo, knitted and crocheted and
other crafts. She was an excellent seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Macel, Doro-
thy and Lois; her husbands; and Parlan’s daughter Bette.
Mina is survived by her loving son Roy Brown; Parlan’s chil-
dren Lila, Mary Ann, Parlan Jr. and Laura; granddaughter Ceara;
great-granddaughters Caydince and Paige; and niece Sherrie Mat-
thews.
Special thanks to Hospice, Tri-City Retirement, Lourdes and
Dr. Daniel Quiroz’s offi ce. All of you are a blessing to the family.
A viewing was be held Thursday, May 26 at Mueller’s Tri-Cit-
ies Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. Graveside
services were held Friday, May 27 at Desert Lawn Memorial Park,
10th and Union Street, Kennewick.

Geneva McArtor
Geneva McArtor died May 26, 2016 at Wallowa Memorial
Hospital at age 86. Her family is planning a graveside memo-
rial for 11 a.m. June 18 at Bramlett Cemetery in Wallowa. A
full obituary will be published at a later date. Bollman Funeral
Home is entrusted with arrangements.

was crafted from products
that refl ect Enterprise. The
Bowlby stone, quarried by
Melville Stone, ties in to the
historic buildings downtown.
The wood represents the im-
portance of natural resource
economy (timber, farming,
ranching, outdoor recreation).
The wood was locally harvest-
ed and produced by JayZee
lumber and was carved and
painted by local artist Steve
Arment. Engineer Ralph
Swinehart generously drew
up the blueprints needed.
Darrell Brann was involved
in the design committee work,
organized the construction
and laid the Bowlby stone
columns with help from Tim
Funk and others.
From now on, if you’re
entering Enterprise from
the west, there’s little doubt
you’ll know exactly which
town is directly ahead.
