District will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, January

Notice is hereby given of a public hearing to be held by the
Wallowa County Planning Commission on Tuesday, January
26th at 7:00 p.m. in the Thornton Conference Room of the
Wallowa County Courthouse. The agenda for this meeting
will include, but is not limited to, the following items:
Minutes: For the Planning Commission meeting of October
29, 2015.
VanDoozer CUP#16-02 – Proposal to conduct retail sales of
their bakery goods in conjunction with a Bed and Breakfast
and farm stand at 61486 Liberty Road, Joseph. The property
is owned by David VanDoozer and is described as Township
3 South, Range 45, Tax lot #3501 and is zoned Exclusive
Farm Use. The ordinance provisions which govern this
review are Articles 5, 9, 15, and 35 or any other applicable
zoning ordinance or goals of Wallowa County and or laws of
the State of Oregon.
Johnson CUP#16-01 – Proposal to establish a self-serve
pet wash business at 82955 Eggleson Lane, Enterprise. The
property is owned by Michael & Lola Johnson and is
described as Township 2 South, Range 44, Section 12, Tax
lot #1100 and is zoned Existing Lot. The ordinance
provisions which govern this review are Articles 5, 9, 35, and
42 or any other applicable zoning ordinance or goals of

The February Planning Commission meeting has been
scheduled for February 23, 2016.

available for review and/or purchase in the Planning
Department. All applications and draft staff reports may be
reviewed in the Planning Department Monday – Friday from
8:30am – 5:00pm. If the above described issue(s) remains
open for public comment, written comments must be
received by the Wallowa County Planning Department -101
S. River St. Room B-1, Enterprise, OR 97828 - by 5 p.m. on
Monday, January 25, 2016 or oral comments may be given
at the time of the hearing. Hearings are open to the public
and those interested in attending are encouraged to do so.

Who can enter?
All amateur photographers who live in Wallowa County
either full-time or part-time, or who have ever vacationed
in Wallowa County, are eligible. Exceptions: Members of
the Wallowa Valley Photo Club, the staff of the Chieftain,
and their immediate families may not submit entries.
"Immediate family" includes only spouses, parents, and
children.
Public display of photos: All submitted photos will be
displayed on the Chieftain's web site as they are received.
After judging, winning photos will be featured on the Chief-
tain's web site, and as many winning and non-winning
photos as space allows will be featured in the Chieftain's
print edition. Selected winning and non-winning photos
may also appear in a single issue of the Wallowa Valley
Photo Club's monthly newsletter, the Photo Club's web site
in the context of informing members of the Photo Club
about the contest, and in the Discover Wallowa County
Visitor Guide produced by the Chieftain.
Awards: There will be two categories of awards.
1. The People's Choice awards for the most popular
submitted photos, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each
division. Everyone can vote by browsing to the Chieftain's
contest web page and choosing their favorite Student
Division photo and their favorite Adult Division photo.
Prizes are $40, $20, and $10, plus certificates.
2. Overall best photos, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in
each of the two divisions as determined by the judges.
Prizes are $40, $20, and $10, plus certificates. Honorable
Mentions may be awarded at the discretion of the judges.
Prizes for honorable mentions will be certificates.
The Wallowa Valley Photo Club
is solely responsible for all awards.
Deadline: Submissions to the contest may be made
beginning Friday, January 1, 2016 and will be
accepted through Tuesday, January 26, 2016. Vot-
ing for the People's Choice award is from Wednesday,
January 27, 2016 through Wednesday, February 10, 2016.
Winners will be announced in the Wednesday, February
17, 2016 issue of the Chieftain.
Submissions: All submissions must be digital – prints
and slides are not accepted. However, prints and slides
may be scanned and digital copies submitted.
• Digital photos may be submitted via the Chieftain's online
submission form or emailed to PhotoWallowa@
gmail.com. CDs may also be dropped off at the Chief-
tain (209 NW 1st, Enterprise, Oregon).
