The selection of the three was announced at the end of the Aug. 8 awards program of the 2015 Wallowa County Fair. All three girls have been highly active members of 4-H, and that pace will only increase as they take part in parades, conferences, and other events, most of them community-oriented. Anderson is entering the 8th grade at Enterprise Junior High while Gassett and Mc- Dowell are incoming freshmen at Enterprise High School. The three succeed Teagan Miller, Deidre Schreiber and Georgia Falk on Wallowa County’s 4-H Court. 4-H SMALL ANIMALS Rabbits — high point project, Caylynn Beck; outstanding junior project, Caylynn Beck; champion individual herdsman, Caylynn Beck. See AWARDS, Page A10 Pamona Grange awards great citizenship Coaches set EJH practices Enterprise Junior High’s vol- leyball and football teams have an- nounced times for initial practices. Volleyball players will practice Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the small gym. Players should come prepared to practice after a short informational meeting. Wallowa Pomona Grange #22 made their Outstand- ing Community Citizenship Awards at the Wallowa Coun- ty Fair last Saturday and hon- ored Linda Koloski of Enter- prise and Nancy Cannon of Flora. The two awards recognize both a granger (Cannon) and a non-granger (Koloski) for extraordinary public service in their community. Granger Award: Cannon, a member of the North End Grange in Flora, has been chairperson of Grange Work- ers Activities for six years and is well known throughout the county for her willingness to pitch in any time a service or- ganization or individual asks for help. As an example, she sewed one third of the 205 satchels made as gift bags for attendees of the State Grange Pamona Grange #22 made their Outstanding Community Citizenship Awards at the Wallowa County Fair last weekend, honoring non- granger Linda Koloski and granger Nancy Cannon. Cannon often makes her work with the Grange a fam- ily affair, ringing along her husband, children and grand- children as volunteers. Non-granger Award: Veterans living in Wallowa will recognize Koloski as the cook at the VFW Hall in En- terprise. Her husband Mike is a retired U.S. Coast Guard of¿cer and the couple’s two sons are also both in the mili- tary. Linda is an of¿cer in the VFW Auxiliary and is well known for her many services in the veterans community including cooking for the Me- morial Dinner at the fair and helping wrap 300 boxes for Elks Christmas baskets every year. She has been a member of the Wallowa Mountain Quilters Guild and chairs the “Quilts of Honor” program that makes quilts for the WWII veterans in the com- munity. She and her husband also helped organize the local chapter of the Parkinson’s Support Group and are very active in the arts community.
