LETTERS: Reader calls for more access to falls Continued from Page A4 In 1947, the Boy Scouts purchased the land from PP&L, and allowed the pub- lic access to view the falls. If there was a Boy Scout camp in session, they would place a sign on the gate and people would not enter until the camp was over. My family purchased a cabin in the Methodist Church Camp area in 1954. We have stayed at the lake every summer since that time. We used to walk to the falls every day, and my children and grandchildren have done the same. 2ver the years, there have been thousands of people who walk by our cabin on their way to the falls. Many of these people had returned to see the falls, many were new visitors who heard about the falls. They come from the state camp ground, cabins, and other places to stay while visiting the Lake. We appreciate the vi- sion and hard work of Ken Coreson and his Board of Directors for “Creating Memories.” We understand that the camp will have its first guest in the near future. However, for us, this beau- tiful place is Holy Ground, and we believe God created it for all to enjoy. Conse- quently, we are requesting that the Board of Directors continue the tradition of al- lowing the public access to the falls when camp is not in session.
