CJD launches Little
Buckaroo Rodeo
Spurred on by Enterprise special education teacher
Debbie Scudder, Chief Joseph Days has added the CJD
Little Buckaroo Rodeo in 2015, offering kids with
developmental disabilities the opportunity to compete
in the arena.
Using equipment lent from the Pendleton Round-
Up's own special needs rodeo, qualified kids through
age 16 can milk the (wooden) cow, ride the (teeter-tot-
ter) bull, rope the (dummy) steer, untie a bow from a
goat's tail, and race stick horses.
Each competitor is accompanied by a cowboy
mentor, and competitors are eligible to ride on the
Little Buckaroo hay wagon that will be part of Satur-
day's downtown parade.
This year's inaugural edition of the Chief Joseph Days
Little Buckaroo Rodeo is slated for 10 a.m., Wednesday,
July 22, in the Harley Tucker Memorial Arena.
That's during slack time, which of course means
admission is free.
