Jose- phy, who passed away in 2005, is the author of “The Nez Perce and the Opening of the North- west,” and the namesake of the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture on Main Street in Jo- seph. As part of the year’s celebra- tion events, the Center is pre- senting “Nuunimnix” a Native American Art Exhibit, which opens Saturday, May 30, at 3 p.m., and on Sunday, May 31, at 4 p.m., to host a “birthday party” for Josephy, the historian and friend of the Nez Perce people. Admission to both events is by donation. The Nez Perce National Park reached out to Nez Perce artists (they call themselves Niimii- pu; to the world outside their communities they are known as the Nez Perce) to build the Nuunimníx Art Show.
