A2 News/Obituaries wallowa.com O BITUARIES Joyce Terry Jan. 13, 1931 – Feb. 9, 2015 Joyce (Warnock) Terry was born Jan. 13, 1931, and left this earth Feb. 9, 2015. She and her twin sister Jean (Warnock) Huffman were born to Dave & Ena Warnock in WKHROGGRFWRU¶VRI¿FHKRVSLWDO in Wallowa, delivered by Dr. Gregory. At that time, the IDPLO\OLYHGXSWKH6RXWKIRUN River outside Lostine. When the girls were in the second grade, they moved to the family ranch on Warnock Road between Lostine and Wallowa. They attended school from second grade through high school in Lostine, riding horseback three miles to school each way. After high school, Joyce attended college in La Grande studying music. Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence Edwin Terry, on June 14, 1950. They lived in Elgin for a short time while Lawrence logged, returning to the ranch where she was UDLVHGDQGRSHUDWHGWKHIDPLO\¶VFDWWOHUDQFK/DZUHQFHMRLQHG the US Army and served for 21 months, during which time the FRXSOHUHVLGHGLQVHYHUDOGLIIHUHQWVWDWHV7KH\UHWXUQHGWRWKH ranch in 1956 after Lawrence was honorably discharged. Joyce lived her life in service, both to her community DQGWRKHUIDPLO\6KHFDUHGIRUERWKKHUSDUHQWVODWHLQWKHLU lives, her father-in-law, two aunts and an elderly neighbor. 6KHVHUYHGWKH/RVWLQH3UHVE\WHULDQ&KXUFKE\SOD\LQJWKH SLDQRDQGRUJDQVLQJLQJLQWKHFKRLUSURYLGLQJÀRZHUVDQG VXSSRUWLQJWKHFKXUFKLQZKDWHYHUUROHVKHZDVDVNHG6KH WDXJKWPXVLFOHVVRQVDQGSOD\HGSLDQRIRUWKH/RVWLQHDQG Wallowa School choirs. -R\FHHQMR\HGSDLQWLQJFURFKHWLQJDQGTXLOWLQJ Together with her husband, they raised three daughters, Cathy Ann (Terry) Johnson, Connie Marie (Terry) Howard and 'RQQD/HH7HUU\/DZUHQFHDQG-R\FHRSHUDWHG7HUU\¶V%XLOGLQJ 6XSSO\IRU\HDUVVHUYLQJWKHOLYHVWRFNDQGEXLOGLQJQHHGVRI the County. Lawrence later drove logging truck. Joyce maintained the Lostine Cemetery records for GHFDGHV7RJHWKHUZLWKRWKHUVWKH\KDYHSURYLGHGKHDGVWRQHV for those buried generations ago whose graves bore no PDUNHUV-R\FHHQMR\HGERZOLQJNHSWERRNVIRUWKH/RVWLQH 'LWFK&RPSDQ\WRRNSDLQWLQJFODVVHVWKURXJKRXWWKHZHVWHUQ states, and was involved in the Wallowa School Foundation. After the death of their youngest daughter, Donna Lee on $SULOWKH\GRQDWHGDOLIHLQVXUDQFHSROLF\WR DSULYDWHIRXQGDWLRQZKLFKIXQGHGVFKRODUVKLSVIRU\HDUV Joyce is survived by her husband, Lawrence Terry of Lostine, twin sister, Jean Huffman of Walla Walla, Wash.; daughters Cathy Johnson and husband Dick Johnson of Lostine and Connie Howard and Donald Howard of Portland; seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Her service was held at the Lostine Presbyterian Church on Feb. ,WZDVDWWHQGHGE\SHRSOHDQGFRQGXFWHGE\ Rev. Steve Kliewer.
