A2 News/Obituaries wallowa.com O BITUARIES Lee Harrison Pace Feb. 13, 1951 – Dec. 1, 2014 Lee “Swede” Harrison Pace of Hermiston died with his family by his side Dec. 1, 2014. Swede was born in Enterprise Feb. 13, 1951, to Jack and Dorthy Pace. Swede attended elementary and high school in Enterprise, the home of the Savages. Swede was an active member of his student body and participated in band and was one heck of a football player. Upon graduation, Swede attended Blue Mountain Community College, where he majored in Liberal Arts. He was drafted into the Army in 1970. He completed basic training at Fort Lewis, and was stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., with the Airborne Division. Swede met his wife Debbie Albrecht while attending BMCC. On Dec. 19, 1971, they were married. On Jan. 31, 1973, they were blessed with their daughter Kimberly Ann Pace. After a time logging in Enterprise, they moved to Honolulu, where Swede was a developer and contractor. It was here where he worked on high-rise buildings perfecting his skills as a master carpenter. On Jan. 23, 1976, Swede and Debbie proudly announced the birth of their son David Lee Pace. Swede raised his young family in Hawaii until the mid ’80s, when they decided to bring their children back to Enterprise. It is then, where Swede began his venture in the log home business. Next, Swede started Lee Pace Construction before Debbie and he moved to the Hermiston area, in the ’90s. Swede leaves behind his beloved wife Debbie. Daughter Kim and her husband Kreg Coggins of Enterprise. Son David and wife Brooke Pace of Joseph. Three cherished grandchildren: Jake Lee Coggins, Josi Lynn Coggins, and Harrison Dallas Pace. He also leaves behind his parents Jack and Dorthy Pace of Enterprise; brother Jim and wife Leslie Pace of Enterprise; brother Bob and Mary Kay Pace of Winnemucca, Nev.; and brother Steven aka “Duff” and wife Linda Pace of Enterprise. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins across the country. Swede was truly blessed to live in two communities that loved and supported him and his family. He lived life to the fullest, laughed and told stories often, cherished friends, and loved his family and God. His Celebration of Life was handled by the Christian Church, Summit Church , Mark Garland, and friends and family on Dec. 10, 2014. James H. Hombel March 11, 1928 – Jan. 2, 2015 With family by his side, Jim peacefully entered his eternal home Jan. 2, 2015. He was born March 11, 1928, and lived his early life in Enterprise, where he met Joyce Smith, who became his loving wife of 63 years. Jim served overseas in the Army during the Japanese Occupation phase of WWII. Joyce and Jim went on from Enterprise to live in Coeur d’Alene and Moscow, Idaho, Spokane and Clarkston, Wash., and he worked as a Master Outboard Motor Mechanic for many years. Jim was a OLIHORQJRXWGRRUVPDQZKRORYHGFDPSLQJKXQWLQJDQG¿VKLQJ with family and friends. During the years in Clarkston, Jim became an active member of several muzzle loader clubs. This involvement led him to create a mountain man history presentation which he shared at local elementary schools in that area. Jim was always available when family or friends had a QHHGIRUH[WUDKDQGVRUIRUVRPHWKLQJWREH¿[HGWKXVKH was a great neighbor whether on a city street or next door in a camping area. After living in Clarkston for 24 years, Jim and Joyce moved back to Spokane in 2000 to live closer to their children and the family they cherished. Memories of Jim’s storytelling, his laughter, his open arms and home, and his unconditional love will be treasured by those who knew and loved him. Jim was preceded in death by his mother and step- father, Genevieve and Sig McCubbin, his loving wife Joyce (1/11/2012), his son, PFC. Ray Hombel (1969, serving as a marine in Viet Nam at the time of death), and his two brothers Don and Jude Hombel. He is survived by his son Guy and Charlene Hombel (Spokane), his daughter Lynne and Dick Anderson (Horseshoe Lake, Wash.), grandsons Josh Hombel (Spokane), Bob and Rachel Blom (Cheney, Wash.), Clint and Heather Anderson (Portland,), and granddaughters Melissa and Ryan Finnegan (Tehachapi, Calif.), Angee Dwyer (Spokane) and Theresa and Matt Silver (Mead, Wash.), 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. There are numerous friends, nieces and nephews who will also remember family outings, laughter and Granddad’s stories. Services are pending. Mountain View Memorial Chapel is assisting the family. Gerald “Jerry” Kiesecker A memorial service for Gerald “Jerry” Kiesecker, 71, who died Nov. 15, 2014, will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. at the Joseph Community Center in Joseph. Jordan is a well- rounded student who is active and successful in nu- merous adventures. She is the Class Presi- dent of the sophomore class, the treasure for FFA, a member of the National Honors Society and a varsity volleyball player. She is a respected leader in our school and a model student academically. She has a 4.0 GPA and continues to challenge her- self academically through advanced course offerings at Wallowa High School. Above all, Jordan is an exceptional stu- dent and person with a kind heart and great attitude.
