Thirty guests partici pated in the festivities. Square dancing provided the entertain ment, and Ice cream and birthday cake were served. Art Skidgvl has returned home from the hospital and is now able to return to work. Mrs. Ora Riddle has been con fined to her home due to a recent illness. Word ha been received that Sigurd Askviken has been in the Oregon City hospital for an oper ation. He has been released and is expected home about the first ol the week. Saturday evening the Little Des chutes Grange held a short busi ness meeting and program. Sgt. Ben Bitting, sector sergeant of Deschutes county for the Bend Filter Center, showed an Air Force (Urn. Mrs. Jim Larson and small chil dren are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ferns, in Suplea. Ferns Is with the Davidson Construction Co., who are doing contract work in that area. Prineville Court Activity Picks Up Special to The Bulletin PRINEVILLE Court action of the past week shows increased activity after a first-of-the-year slump. In justice court, with Silas Taylor presiding, three cases for collection of monies are listed, to gether with two minor t-tfic vio lations and one fine, ' led on Raymond Hulse of $50 plus costs, for reckless driving. Ten cases were cited' in city court for traffic violations of var ious types. The largest fine was $150 levied on Ernest Price for driving while under the influence of intoxicating licnior. Other cases ranged from warnings to $15. The county clerk's office shows a continued interest in mining claims, with one group of 43 claims filed in two groups by Thomas Sumpter, C. E. Hamilton, Ray Miller, ' V. M. Hendrix ' and T. R. Loekhart. Another group of 15 claims were filed by W. E. Miller. Twelve separate claims were filed by other individuals, with the emphasis of Interest on radio-1 active minerals. THEIR RECORDS Only two jockeys have ridden two consecutive Kentucky Derby winners: Isaac Murphy won on Riley in 1890 and repeated on King man in 1891; Jimmy Winkfield won on His Eminence in 1901 and re peated on Alan-a-Dale In 1902. Five banks in the area recorded $26,076,918 in debits for Deo. 1955 while1 the -previous Dec. total was (25.219,799. This banking region al so 1 noted "a 6.0 per cent decrease in comparing tne uec.-ana Nov. 1955 debit totals. The Nov. total was $27.7-16,163. , Total deblt3 for the ' state, as compiled from - 136 banks, were $1,588,577,449 for. Dec: 1955, a 4.5 per' cent 'increase over the pre ceeding Dec., total. Banx debits .represent the dollar value of checks drawn against the deposit accounts of individuals and business firms. They are generally regarded as Rood Indicators of cur rent business activity ' although their value for this purpose may be impaired by the inclusion ol large checks of a type that don't constitute ' business activity." Benefit Events Set at Prineville Special to The Bulletin PRINEVILLE A number of benefit events for the March of Dimes cajnpaign have been sched uled by various oi ionizations here. On Thursday evening, the V.F.W. auxiliary held a pie and cake walk with proceeds tabbed for the MOD fund. A pinochle party is to be held Feb. 4, at the Eagles hal! and profits from ticket sales will also be turned over to the Crook county drive. The Eagles lodge held' a benefit dance ; Saturday night at the lodge .halt for the same pur pose. Prizes for vaiious events were donated by the auxiliary. In a ; recent food and candy sale, the American Legion auxil iary and the Junior auxiliary re ported that they netted $32.45 for the MOD fund here. Activity Noted Special to The Bulletin ' PRINEVILLE Increased actlvi ty and Interest in flying at the Prineville airport is reported by Dick Ballantine, manager, in spite of frequent rain and snow storms during the past three weeks: New fledgling pilots who have soloed this week are Archie Jones and Bob Hatherill. A student permit has been is sued to Adolph Flemmer, the pas tor of the Church of God of Pro phecy, and both Bill McKe'.vy and Gerald Wallace have passed their written examinations for private pilot's license. A new student at the airport is Arnold Juetten.
