A heart attack was the apparent cause of death, it was report.? Among her survivors is a son, Henry, in Alaska, and a grand daughter, Mrs. Clara Woolhiser, asked that some of the provisions of the new law be publicized. 'Since it is a now type of law this state, some businesses are unaware that it exists or pertains to them," Nilsen noted. The out door, advertising law is to be ad ministrated by tle Bureau of Labor. Nilsen said "the law primarily regulates advertising structures :md signs which are visible from the road and outside of incorporat ed cities. An annual permit is re quired for each structure ' and signs except the following: Signs advertising the name, na ture of service of a business and which are placed within 300 feet of rhe business site; certain warn ing signs; rental or sale signs on real estate involved; signs on a farm advertising its products. Nilsen said permit applications should be secured from the State Bureau of Labor, Salem, Oreg., as soon as possible. Some of the forms have been received here by the Bend Chamber of Commerce. Permit fees are based on the ad vertising area, commencing at SO cents for signs under 50 squar, feet to $300 for those in excess of 400 square feet. Advertising copy may be changed at any tune with out payment of an additional fee for the year, but reapplication must be made when a sign moved or rebuilt. Signs may not be placed rocks or trees, and must b-? able to withstand wind pressure safely. Also, signs will not be allowed to obstruct the view of drivers ul intersections or curves. When a sign is not brought into compliance with legal regulations within 30 days notice, or if the name and address of the owner is not on the sign, it can be removed by the state and the owner charged a minimum of $25 for the removal. "It would be advisable for all highway sign owners to check the several provisions ol the new law to see what provisions may apply to their signs," Nilsen cautions.
