S. to Reject Plea by Israel By Farm Bureau Farm Bureau board of directors hired Mrs. Bruno Reif, Pineville, for county secretary Thursday eve ning at Deschutes school. Mrs. Reif will fill the vacancy created by the resignation in October of Mrs. F. H. Cottrell. Rief is insur ance manager for'Farm Bureau in Crook and Deschutes counties. Reif, Harry Hegardt, Folmer SodtKer, Mrs. William barackman and Paul Perkett gave reports on tne state convention which they attended last week, in Salem. Tne group made plans for Farm Bureau week, Nov. 28 to Dec. d. During this' week members of Farm Bureau will make a drive to secure more members. Each year the state bureau sets up a mem bership quota for each county. The 1936 quota for Deschutes county is 223 members. There were 205 WASHINGTON (UP) The Unit ed States will reject at least for the present Israel s urgent plea for a security pact with this country, diplomats said today. Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Snarett issued a public appeal tor the treaty Monday in an address before the National Press Club. But diplomats said the United States now considers the 1950 U.S.- British-French declaration on the Middle East adequate protection lor the Jewish stale against pos sible attack from her Arab neigh bors. That declaratioa said tne three would take action consistent with their United Nations obliga tions to prevent border violations, Snarett said the 1950 declaration "purported to guarantee against violent encroachment of Arab- went over 7500 members so Ore gon now can send two delegates to the national meetings. Sharrett left the door open a crack to meeting U.S. proposals for agreeing on boundaries when he indicated Israel may be willing to make some minor border ad justments.
