Quick Tuna Chowder, Easy Potato Soup and Corn-Tomato Chowder have that home-cooked flavor, yet can be made in minutes. Quick Tuna Choudur (Serves 4) 2 medium onions thinly sliced 1 7-oz. can tuna ' 1 cup boiling water 3 tsp. salt tup. pepper top. thyme 4 medium potatoes, sliced 1 cup cooked peas 3 cups milk In 4 deep kettle, place 2 Tbsp. oil drained from tuifu. Cook onions gently, in oil until tender. Add boil ing water, salt, pepper, thyme, and potatoes. Simmer, covered, for 15 m tautcs. Add cooked peas, tuna broken in chunks and milk. Heat and serve, : Kiwy rotate Soup ; (Soi-vch 2) l'i !cups cubed potatoes 1 Tbsp. chopped onion 1 Tbsp. butter K cup boiling water 2 cups milk Lsp, salt Pepper Cook potatoes and onion in wa ter until potatoes are tender. Add milk, , butter, and seasonings, and blend well. Heal until steaming and serve with chopped chives. Put in a covered kettle with butter, onion, cilery, potatoes, and water and cook until potatoes are tender. Remove bug of seasonings. Add corn, milk, tomatoes, salt, pepper, and cheese. Reheat, blending well until hot and cheese Is melted. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve. Death Toll In Maneuvers Reaches I I CAMP PKNDLETON, Calif. (UP) Six Marines lost when two landing craft overturned raised to 11 today the total of servicemen killed in rugged air, land and sea military maneuvers off the South ern California coast. Two Murines were drowned and four ' were lost and presumed drowned yesterday when the heavy wind-lashed surf near this base upset the craft. It was the second major tragedy and the third accident of the joint U.S.-, Canadian war maneuvers. Last Friday a U. S. Navy Sky raider jet attack bombererashed into the destroyer U. S. S. Hope well during a simulated attack, costing five lives. Three men were killed in the plane and two aboard the destroyer. Last Wednesday night the de stroyer U. S. S. Boyd collided with Japanese freighter. Oriental Pork on Spaghetti (Makes 4-6 servings) One-quarter pound salt pork, diced, 1 pound boned pork shoul der, cut in 'fc-inch cubes, all-pur pose flour, IV2 cups diced celery, 1 cup chopped onions, K pound mushrooms, sliced, 1 cup water, cup catsup, 1 tablespoon Wor cestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, salt to taste, 1 tablespoon salt, 3 quarts boiling water, ounces spaghetti. Fry salt pork until crisp; re move. Dredge pork In flour and brown well in salt pork drippings. Add celery, onions, mushrooms, water, catsup, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce; mix well Cover and cook over low heat 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Sea son with salt. Meanwhile, add 1 tablespoon suit to rapidly boiling water. Gradually add spaghetti so that water continues to boil. Cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, until tender. Drain in colander.; Serve pork sauce over spaghetti, j Fork Tin-bides (4 servings) One and one-half cups cooked rice. VM cups diced cooked pork, 1 tablespoon finely diced onion, 2 eggs, beaten, 1 cup milk, 1-3 cup meat broth or milk, teaspoon salt, pepper. ! Mix all ingredients together.! Divide mixture among custard cups or individual baking dishes. Place cups in pan of very hot water and bake at 350 degrees F. j (moderate oven) about 30 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center of timbale comes out clean. For variety: Cooked ham, chicken, 1 turkey, fish, or rabbit may be used in place of the pork. For a com pany meal, add mushrooms, fresh or canned. Mushroom sauce may' be served on the timbales.
