by a 240-horsepower V-8 engine
with a torque rating of 350 foot
pounds at 2,800 rpm.
Both engines are of 352 cubic
inch displacement, biggest in the
medium-price field.
High-torque, considered by engi

the Clipper V-8 engines.
The all-new line of 1956 Clipper
models makes available the first
real concept of electric puch-

This new push-button driving
system overcomes the frailities of
human temperament and reflexes
and does the driver's thinking for
him. It opens the door for the
first time to the ultimate in push
button, atomic-age, motorcar oper

is impossible for a driver to select
a wrong driving selection in street

Police Arrest
Driver, Find He
Had Shoes Off
When a man drives a car with
his shoes off, the sensitive contact
of his feet with the pedals causes
the vehicle to do strange things.
This happened last night to Nor
man Hilliard, 23, of 2101 Aubrey
road, a milhvorker.
Hilliard led city police officers
along a twisting. -criss crossing,
back tracking, labyrinthine chase
through stop lights, streets and
aUeys that wound up when they
curbed him at Greenwood and
Division streets at 11 p.m.
'Where were you going?" the
officers inquired.
"Don't know," Hilliard grinned.
"What were you drinking?"
"Drinking?"
"Yes."
"What?" .
"Beers."
"Couple."
Hilliard emerged from his "car
without shoes. He was charged
with operating a car while intox
icated, deprived of his driver's
license and held irr $250 bond.
