The baby weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces - A free dance for teen-agers will be held tonight in the basement of the Elks hall, starting at 7:30. Mr. and Mrs. A. Wandacheid ant! family, Klamath Falls, and Mr and Mrs. E. Wandacheid and fam ily of Litchfield, Minn., visitec Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Smith, 1588 Awbrey road. The Smiths former ly lived in Litchfield. Women of the Moose will hold a public card party tonight at Moose hall, starting at 8 o'clock There will be prizes and refreshments. Mrs. Wayne Thompson of Salem is visiting in Bend this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. McKee, 1314 E. 8th street, and her husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Thompson, 352 Roanoke ave nue. She was formerly Pat McKee. . At the meeting of the Bend Re bckah lodge at 8 o'clock tonight at the Odd Fellows hall there will be a special program honoring Mrs. Ted Meagher, adviser to the Theta Rho girls' club. There will also be a short program presented by Mrs. Harold Hagon, program chairman.. Mrs. Leslie Kribs is chairman of the refreshment committee. Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Innes returned yesterday from Califor nia, where Mrs. Innes attended the San Francisco furniture market She reported a very active market, with many lines shown. The ladies auxiliary of Patriarchs Militant will sponsor a public card party, second in a series, Friday at 8 p.m. at the IOOF hall. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Winbigler and their two young daughters were to arrive tins afternoon from Eugene, to spend the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Johnson, 1016 Federal st. Winbigler is thfj new football coach at Bend high school. He is Mi's. Johnson's nephew. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Emerson and family left Saturday for Lin coln. Nebr., where they will visit with relatives for about three weeks. Annual Broom Sale Planned Special to The Bulletin PRINKVILLE A legion of door-to-door salesmen will go through Prineville Tuesday evening, July 26, knocking on doors of every home in the city and the outlying areas. The salesmen will be mem bers of the Lions club, conducting their annual broom sale. Chairman Marvin Loper says that each man will have five models of the brooms which are made at the Oregon Institute for the Blind, ranging from small whisk brooms to the large indust rial size. For the sale, 64 Lions will act as salesmen, divided into eight squads. All members will meet at 5 p.m. prior to the evening's work, for final briefing on the best tech niques for promoting brooms. Pro ceeds from the sale will go to the school for the blind and into 1he Lions club's treasury for local charities. Dwyer, Portland, was elected chairman of the State Board of Aeronautics yesterday succeeding Dr. V. M. Pea re, La Grande. Dr. Peare was reappointed by Gov. Paul Patterson to another five-year term on the board. Mayor Ralph Scroggin of Lebanon was named vice chairman. The board gave approval to an agreement to share costs with the State Game Commission for con struction of a drainage ditch at Lake of the Woods airstrip north west of Klamath Falls. Lower Welfare Figure Noted Deschutes county has some 56,200 less to spend in welfare work for the current fiscal year than the last one, Miss Olive Jameson, county welfare administrator, said yesterday. Last year's budget wart but $2fiG,668.48 was expended. This year's budget is $2(50,150. During the month of June, the welfare administration spent a to tal of $22,042.08. of which $278.70 was for general assistance, $125.- 71 for general assistance medical expenses, $793.85 foster home, $13,- 3S0.45 for old age assistance, $928. 51 old age medical expenses, $3, 795.70 aid lo dependent children, $140.41 dependent children medical expenses, $39 aid to the blind, $2. :tS9 aid to the disabled, and $144.69 medical expenses for the disabled.1 Swim Classes Set at Prineville Special to The Bulletin PRINEVILLE New swimming classes and Red Cross instruction will be offered at the city's swim ming pool starting August 2, ac cording to Mrs. Wilfred Burgess who is In charge of the summer's swimming instruction program. Classes in junior and senior Red Cross swim training will be offered from 9:30 to 11:00 and adult classes will begin at 10:00 a.m. Those in terested may register at the pool at any time, Mrs. Burgess said.
